The Mystery of 2012 is a new book by Sounds True that's made up of a whole series of essays from quite a few different perspectives. They've got a website for it (with blog posts and excerpts) here. If you're looking for a collection of interpretations, I'd definitely recommend it.

I have also read 2012 by Daniel Pinchbeck.

I would recommend this book to anyone who is ready to go on quite the adventure through many different researchers theories and beliefs about this great date.
It's an extremely well written thesis on Daniels research, study, and experience about our 2012 evolution. He actually encounters a being called Queztacoatl, the Mayan serpent, and goes through a few incredible initiations through mysterious shamans in the Amazon, and the Bwiti tribe of Africa exploring new realms.
Daniel takes a significant piece of many many researchers ideas, and collaborates them into one giant story leaving you fascinated and enlightened.

In regard to what you are saying, Justme, I believe that we deliberately chose to explore our shadow side. How can you know who you really are unless you explore all of yourself, ugly side included. Kicking ourselves out of The Garden so to speak was an act of love and courage from where I see it. That's why I don't believe that anyone is condemned to hell. We're here to make mistakes and learn about our dark side and light side. I don't think we got lost, we chose to have this very painful schooling on what happens when we stray from acting in balance. And now we are exiting this era and entering a new era where we will take the knowledge we've gained of how not to act and work together as one to solve new challenges that lie before us as continue to explore what it means to be human.

I just saw this DVD a week or two ago, and it piqued my interest in the topic. Has anyone else seen it? It was the first I heard of the more scientific (though perhaps there should be quotation marks around that) predictions about the year.

Don't just belief books.
Look, if there are thousands of people showing observations, and proof of the alike. If there are hundreds of intertwined connections of different kinds of research of such a planet, then perhaps you need to consider it is true.

Anyone can write down made up proof. Anyone can write down things that sound so gullable, that you believe them. But it isn't true!

Look, it is simple. Get to a telescope. If it rotates around the sun, in 3600 years, and it would return in the comming 10 years. it should be visible with a binoculars... Just look at the coordinates it would have, and you will not see any planet.
Even astrologists don't use this planet. And they even use pluto!

Don't get freaked out, because someone is saying the world will end. Thousands of people have been saying that in earths history. And it never happened. Trust your own eyes. Not someone else's stories!

You NEED to read the book by Jaysen Q. Rand who wrote Return of Planet X. Now I like to listen to books rather than read them, I comprehend better....so I gave the book to my husband to read so he could explain it all to me. Now this man is a very logical and very intellegent man and doesn't scare at all.

Let me tell you, this scared him to death and this book goes into specific details along with other times and proof of when this happened in the past throughout history.

This book gives you a lot of information and a survival guide.

I myself believe that there is a strong possibilty of what this man says is true but you be the judge.

for the sake of arguement, i would like to point out that all planets travel in an elliptical orbit, simply meaning more oval, or egg-shaped than circular...

hmm, this makes me laugh a lot!

First of all, our solar system isn't bi-polar. If it would, we wouldn't be here. WE are only here, because there are no planets with an elliptical orbit. These would have disturbed the tranquil gravitational fields we reside in today. And our planet would never have been formed. Only commets and meteorites follow such an orbit. And most are even beautiful circular.

In fact it's effects would have been so vast. especially with a size twice that of pluto. (which isn't a planet anymore) That the planets as we know them today wouldn't have formed. An elliptical planet of that kind simply wouldn't fit in our solarsystem,

If you want It can all be calculated. However something as large as that, would have already been noticed long ago. And 3600 years isn't all that much. And since human civilization it must have been denoted at least three times. Especially by Indian and mayan culture.

Pinchbeck is a really good read and a great entry point. I would also recommend the book Earth: Pleiadian Keys to the Living Library by Barbara Marciniak - wow, you'll be in for one interesting ride. I'm thinking about tackling José Argüelles' Time and the Technosphere. He's perhaps the most ardent about ditching the Gregorian calendar and switching to the 13-based system of the Maya, and has several other books on 2012 as well I believe. Hi all,

Does anyone know if the following theory purporting the approach of Planet Nibiru to the center of our solar system has validity?

When researching 2012, one major recurring theory regards a 12th planet purportedly approaching our solar system. Referred to as Planet X, Planet Nibiru, Wormwood and other names, it has been theorized by some that this planet has a much larger elliptical orbit than all our other planets (http://home.iae.nl/users/lightnet/celestial/MAINORBIT.JPG) and is about make it's once-per-3600-year pass through the core our solar system precisely during the months preceding, during and after the December 21, 2012 date. Some believe its elliptical orbit is around another distant brown dwarf star, suggesting our solar system is bi-polar (see orbit image link above).

Further, it is theorized that given the mass of this body (twice as big as Pluto), when passing through our system and near our planets it will cause substantial disruptions due to its gravitational effects which increase sharply at close range (for science dorks, F=Gmm/r^2). Its suggested it will disrupt the orbit of our asteroid belt, affect attributes of some of our planets, and finally spur substantial seismic, volcanic and weather activity on Earth. It is pointed out that evidence in Earth's sedimentary rock layers, fossil records and even salt water damage to interiors of ancient man made structures (pyramids) may indeed suggest that great flooding or other cataclysmic event occurs approximately every 3,600 years. Finally, some say this planet will also affect our consciousness, imbuing us with a great sense of awareness; sort of a mass awakening. Tons of websites feature precognitive dreams submitted by people all over the world vividly describing such events.

I really want to figure out if there's any merit to these theories. I do not want to propogate any rumors, or any deeply flawed theories or information. I debated even bringing this up in our forum.

Finally, if there is any merit to this, I would ask us all not to develop anxiety about such a prospective event, but instead embrace it as an inevitable part of our human spiritual evolution.

I'm new to this group but I'm very interested in ancient stone structures around the planet. The Mayan's built some great ones. I just thought I'd include some info as many of the old temples have built references to mathematics, astonomy and the Mayan calander.
