How important is health for you?

Meenakshi said Sep 28, 2008, 4:10 PM:

On a scale of 1-10 how important is your health for you today?

How important is each of these components, again on a scale of 1[not important] to 10 [extremely important]?

Physical [muscular, weight, sense organs etc.]
Physiological [internal organs]
Emotional
Personal power / will
Intellectual
Spiritual
Holistic - Overall feeling of balance or imbalance

I am chosing to respond to this question because it has made me confront issues I normally consign to the back of my mind.

Physical…3    Having been diagnosed with a chronic progressively debilitating brain illness which affects my automatic muscle responses I've come to realise how of little importance the physical aspect of my make up is.  I've rated this 3 rather than 1 because I place some importance on remaining independant or not being a burden on someone else

Physiological…6   It is difficult to separate this from Physical other than the fact that to maintain life in this incarnation requires most of our internal organs.

Emotional…1   I've found emotions to be totally untrustworthy.  I have to take large doses of antidepressants due to a chemical imbalance in my brain related to the disease, to make me 'feel' normal.  These drugs don't change anything but my perception, but trigger severe emotional responses that I have little control over, if I don't take the drugs.

Personal…?   I'm not sure what you mean Meenakshi

Intellectual…5  Following on the above theme, my ability to think laterally or plan ahead has been severely affected as has my memory.  My intellect is only important to me in as far as being able to relate to my surroundings and communication with others is concerned.

Spiritual….10   This is where it's at for me.  In everything I do I aim to be more and more spiritually aware.  I don't believe Spiritual Health can be anything less than perfect, but my perception or awareness of it can fluctuate.

Holistic…?  I'm sorry I'm not sure what this means either.

One thing I ask, please don't comment on my health issue unless you are or have 'walked in my mocassins'.  I was diagnosed with Parkinsons disease 3 years ago. The cause is unknown and there is no cure known to modern conventional medicine.  I have given this issue over to my friends in the 'Light' pod, and am waiting expectantly for the healing to manifest.

Hmm..”Personal” isn't clear so I've changed it to “personal power” which is what I meant. Healthy personal power is using one's will in alignment with the highest good of all concerned; to wit, not forcing one's will on others or allowing others to force their will on oneself.

I'll edit the main post accordingly.

Holistic”, whole –Holistic health: I mean as an overall feeling of health that we may get even when certain aspects of us are not well.

Holistic “non-health” : a feeling of imbalance and unease we may get even when all aspects of us are outwardly without disease or illness.

You guys who have been following me these past few months know how important my health has become in all areas.
I am only five pounds away from my first hundred.
I have said it before , but it bears repeating - finding out that I had developed Type 2 diabetes was the best thing that ever happened to me.
I had to get sick to learn to be well, which is too bad, better to do something about my sickness than just to go on.
“Get busy livin' or Get busy dyin” “.
I am glad that I chose the first one.
I am more psychically healthy than I have been since my 20's and I have never been more mentally and spiritually healthy in my life.
I used to be what was called “bipolar” but this year, for the first time since childhood, fall does not bring on depression. Colors are brighter, the sky is bluer, and even the rain leaves me with a smile.
I embrace the changing of the seasons with a new joy in life!
I was eating an apple the other day and it tasted just like it did when I was ten and the family used to go picking in the local orchard.
Crisp, sharp. crunchy and tangy.
Life is good!

Yes, Lizzy; and I was waiting for you to come and add to this discussion.
You are a real inspiration to me; and I value the way you have kept us posted about this fantastic change in your life.

Even the taste buds–wow!

Yesterday, when I was jogging [which I've never done before]; and wasn't being able to; I thought of your grit and determination and that inspired me to go on. I'll think of you running in front of me whenever my will flags; okay?

Fine with me darlin' . I am glad that I am doing some good for someone.  I never thought of myself as bringing anything but trouble to my fellow travelers.

Just as well you're on the other side of the world Liz.  Around here talking like that would be an over the knee spanking offence.

The only problems any of us have on the path are those we bring with us.  If it appears to be eminating from someone else that is just our ego not being willing to confront the truth of the situation.

The reality of your being is as perfect as the architect of the Universe.

You cannot help but do good, irrespective of how things may look.

Consider yourself spanked (in love of course… lol)
