Thank you Meenkashi! Oooo a daddylong leg just jumped down from my neck and on to my wrist, to the desk and then scuttled off! And I'm drifting back, 5th grade, and school was out for summer but it felt like forever, remember that? All my school friends arrived for my birthday party and it was the very first one I rememeber celebrating with friends and my girlfriend since second grade was there, much closer then she had been then when I sat in the fields behind her house, or knowing her vicariously through her friend Janet whom I often hung around with after school. Mindy was so graceful and a dancer and dreamy and someone put a plate of cake in her chair at the party and poor Mindy sat down on the cake!
OMG my mother felt so bad for her and me I was devastated. My dream of her was broken! So I guess this, right now is my very best birthday because now I love Mindy again, but it's not because of her imagined grace and beauty, which was real but because she was real too :-)

Such a REAL memory! I can almost see what she was wearing, and how mortified [remember that word?] to spoil her clothes, and your cake- not sure in which order, though!

So summer birthday - that does mean no celebration at school. Or did you have a one-day party “for all summer birthdays” as they do now?

Oh, Doug–it's a bright and beautiful day here in Colorado, and such a perfect cause to celebrate. Happy birthday, again and again and again.

Hi Meenakshi, I'm sure she was mortified and I probably can't even imagine how much. But I'd imagine if I were to run into her on the street one day she would remember me.

Lol! Yes it probably was one of those catch all laundry list of names of the summer birthday kids I was a member of then.

Speaking of paths I'm remembering the first full moon walk I led back in November. I led a group up a fire trail in the redwoods near my home. A place I've been to many many times. I had the group spit up into groups of two so we could experience it individually and yet have someone to help when needed. Even though it was a full moon it was still low in the eastern sky and lots of canopy and yeah it was hard to see. At one point I got totally disoriented because I kept walking towards the moon light instead of following the path to the left into the darkness. My walking partner who had never been there, before stopped me before I walked her off of the path!
Yes it is guaranteed but how it unfolds is the fun part and full of surprises!

Hi Meenakshi, Tonight I ate Thai food and I was 53 doing it and after that I worked on a painting I've been working on since I was 52 and soon I'll sleep and dream things that no one 52 every dreamed before.
My 18 year old daughter spoke to me at dinner saying she felt like she has lived a long time already and I told her she had collected more experiences in the time she has been here then she will. She was like “Wow depressing”! Lol! Of course I had to explain my statement and tell her that while she will experience new things in linear time she will also re-experience everything that has ever happened to her in new ways. So really it just gets richer and the meaning deeper.
So my plan is no plan, my plan is trust, trust that tonight will be a new adventure and tomorrow I'll be in some place without a map, purposefully lost in an adventure knowing I'll find the way. :-)
