A HummingBird turns 50 on June 26th!

There is a being on Gaia who flies in as HummingBird as she inspires us to go deeper into the labyrinth of our lives, or shares the special beauty of her life with Gien, or her daughters Gra-anna and Natalie.

 'Joy' is your title, and that is the vibration with which I launch this celebration of you, dear Anna, as we count up to  your 50th birthday.

Anna, you make so many of us aware of how to live a life of the highest vibration, in every area of living - by sharing so generously your life with family, friends, vegan food, in your skin life, around Gaia and in other places on the web. You truly show us how one light can shine through many windows. How blessed I am to share so many spaces with you!

I am enthused by your organizing of peace marches, and specially  your call to your friends as you donate your birthday to a cause dear to your heart :International Campaign for Tibet. I am happy to see your friends have begun to donate to this.

I know that this is like a special, re-birthing time for you, dear Anna. Would you like to share some of that with us?

Meenakshi, as always you are so good at putting your finger on pulse of any situation - I'm going to allow this thread to be an unfolding of my awareness.

I do not usually celebrate my birthdays but this birthday is special to me as it is two days away from Gien's and my 1st wedding anniversary - and also, Gien's birthday is two days after our anniversary so its a loving week of precious geometry. Gien is two years younger than I - so I'm breaking or rather melting the 50yrs 'ice' 1st! Celebrating on Gaia is precious to me because this is where Gien and I met.

FaceBook is where i meet my youngest daughter, Natalie and other loved ones. Gaia is my favorite Network and feels like a virtual home. FaceBook does provide the special opportunity to gift others on our birthdays.
I'm going to be cheeky enough to take the opportunity of suggesting Gaia could do something like this too. This would make my day!

Here is her on her birthday and also a lovely photo of her recent trip to Thailand where precious Assaji - yes this is our True Eloquence here on Gaia! graciously showed her and her husband Jay around - they are like brother and sister these darling ones

Wow Anna, your looks belie your age, and it is such a beautiful age, enjoy may it unfold with all your heart desires and much love. I never send money over the internet, but I will donate to your cause here in UK. i also sign all petitions to UN and China for Aung San Suu Kyi turned 64 recently, also the thousands of other political prisoners, many nuns and monks in apalling conditions, and more shot recently.  Now on top of that they are suffering the worst drought, because of overgrazing and deforestation, China should have recognised and forstalled that because it has already happened in large areas of China, but sadly, I suppose they are too busy suppressing the Tibetan people. Happy Birthday in advance Anna, anniversary as well, how wonderful two celebrations in one week. Love and hugs to you both, your cause mine too, we are One.

She and her husband Gien have become more precious to me, because of their help and guidance. I wish them both to live like this forever. When Aung San Suu Kyi turned 64 I soo wished the worlds awareness would swing the doors of her prison open and liberate her and her children so the safron robed soldiers can return to being monks, rare and precious ones… The cruelty we see happening in countries such as these simply must stop. We cannot call ourselves a civilized species or even a caring one, until it does.

Having met and fallen in love with Gien here 'in the ether' and then meeting him in 'person' - I have come to realise this space we have here on Gaia is so precious because we meet each other 'from the inside' and then if we have the opportunity we move to knowing each other 'from the inside out'

My daily routine… mm let me see
I tend to wake really early quite naturally - and it doesnt seem to depend much on what time I go to sleep. I prefer going to sleep at 10h00 very latest but I have an angel in my life in the form of a husband who is a night owl - who'd probably never sleep if it weren't that he wants to be with me! As a result since meeting him - starting with online - i have struggled to go to bed at the time I prefer! I wake round 4am or ealier when I do manage a full quota of sleep but otherwise round 5 or so. I take my son to school round 7 - though he is a 'foot dragging growly boy' in the mornings so we're always working on leaving the house in time lol.
I like to start the day with meditation and my favorite breakfast is a smoothie which I put together based on various bits of excellent advice. … and as you know Gien likes to prepare me a gourmet breakfast… Gien and I like to have a brisk morning walk and I like to end the day reading something inspirational - this is my study time when i learn from books - the rest of the time I'm learning from life. We say meal prayers - expressing all we are grateful for.  I spent too much time in front of the computer as I also work as a graphic designer - and as you know, use the internet as a great communications tool. Life challenges me a lot with its demands but I'm always working on creating the life and practice - a word I prefer to 'routine' - which I feel I need. A few years ago I spent a couple of years living a fairly simple lifestyle - in my mind i was creating my own version of a monastery I think… I slept on a yoga mat, walked for an hour at 4am, taught and practiced yoga 3 or 4 times a day, studied, ate a very little and a simple healthy diet and so forth. I think this was also part of my own therapeutic way of working with the passing of my daughter, Gra-anna - I felt the need to work on and develop my spiritual side - also there were no teachers around so I had to work on my own and often share the little I knew with those who came to me for yoga lessons, etc. - so you dont think I was I saint - I add that I struggled with all the things humans do on the aesetic path and tripped over my own feet often… These days I am leading a family life with a precious partner and our aspirations are similar. I am very fortunate… I am rushing this off as I am about to go off to give a trauma counselling session - which leads me to add - my days are very varied in terms of what I do and I enjoy htis aspect. I am always busy! Which includes time for introspection…

Oh, Happy Day! For some unbefundled reason I have not been able to get into Gaia for days. I have been working on a special Painting for 50 Hummingbird Years and I was afraid that I had missed the day. But Look! I made it in the door and under the wire!

Dear loved ones, here's wishing you all a wonder filled year. My wish is that you each walk your path with awareness, presence and discover joy in everything.  Here is a gift for each of you.

The question in the background of my mind is, what are birthdays actually. What's becoming clearer is they are a precious time to connect with loved ones. We should see everyday as a birthday in this way - we are all re-birthing in every moment.

My son, Neville and I were listening to the tale of Siddhartha this morning as we drove to his school. We heard how 'the wound can blossom' and I thought to myself - now that's really something I can relate to! We all feel wounded at times. The most challenging experiences come our way - our house can burn down, beloved's pass on, all sorts… and we can feel wounded. We can either respond in a way that the wound becomes infected, festers or we can find the antidote within and our wound can blossom… then we and other beings can benefit.

It was still dark when I heard my love's voice saying softly, happy birthday my love, then as I started my day I was greeted by the phone ringing - my precious daughter, Natalie's bright voice crossing earth, singing happy birthday to mom - aaw melting heart!

I received many loving messages on FaceBook too - and have just had the surprising experience of receiving a message that my account was disabled! Im sharing this here because a number of Gaian friends have left me messages there and may be as bewildered as I am at my 'disappearance'

I have sent FB this message -

“To whom it may concern – I was in the middle of reading and responding to my birthday messages on FaceBook when my account was disabled, I hope you will remedy this ASAP – not a great birthday present! I received the mail below. The other problem I have been experiencing is that I have made use of the FB causes to raise donations for the Tibetan cause as means of friends giving me a birthday present and a number of friends have said they’ve been unable to donate. Could you also look into this please.

Dear Gaians,

you aren't going to believe this but Anna's been banned from Facebook on her birthday! She was in the middle of reading her many birthday greetings from family and friends when she was suddenly disconnected. Then she checked her email and a vague warning message from Facebook came in….some warning….they disconnected her at the very same time! No reason given at all.

Anyone who knows hummingbird knows she is not capable of doing anything remotely close to getting herself banned.

So I ask you all to write to Facebook at:

and let them know they have made a serious mistake.

… Speaking of which my birthday present from FaceBook, in the form of inexplicably banning me, was a bit shocking to me.  One of my concerns is that I was the founder of Bereavement - a group similar to 'passing' here on Gaia and have been in the process of supporting members who are grieving.  Another concern is I had albums such as my wedding album and Gra-anna's, my daughter who has passed on, which will be difficult to rebuild. I am really hoping there was a simple mistake on the part of FaceBook which will be sorted out and my profile page re-established intact.

I am also sad because I was in the process of raising funds for the Tibetan cause where members were donating in lieu of giving me a birthday present. Strangely, Samme and others told me they were unable to donate for various reasons when thy tried to. But I was hoping that by the end of the day this would be sorted out and we'd raise more funds.

Meenakshi, my sense is there are many celebrities on FaceBook who must surely send and receive more messages than I did on my birthday. If I unwitting broke some rule - FB should have rather let me know so I could rectify it.

Gien is being such a sweet hero - working tirelessly to try and get me reinstated!

Well I am officially extending your birthday until at least right now, a couple of hours into the next day here in Seattle, and therefore I can still wish you a Happy Birthday, and may this next year be full of delightful surprises, unlike the Facebook surprise.

I hope that gets sorted out quickly. I'm glad Gaia has not so many hidden rules, although there is some kind of limit on emails for new members, I forget what, and they don't always communicate that well to new folks, I think.

Anyway, may your life HUMMMMMM !!

Hi everyone, keeping you updated on the Facebook incident. I wrote this to The Facebook Team: appeals+ny5brj1@facebook.com

You have banned my wife from Facebook without any warning whatsover. She was in the middle of reading all her birthday wishes when you disconnected her.

She runs the bereavement website along with Michelle Mary. The only other activity Anna does is post family photos for friends and family and is an officer at a Free Tibet site where her main work is to disseminate information. She is not very active there. She created an art site called “Artie-type” of which she is an admin and she has also created a Facebook Application called “Art from the Heart”.

You sent one warning and shut her down at the same time that she was warned. That is not a warning. Furthermore, you said that she was blocked because of abusing a feature of facebook. We have no idea what that feature was but the blockage occurred immediately and WITHOUT WARNING yesterday. For your information, the moment you blocked her coincided with her receiving a large volume of emails from friends and family wishing her HAPPY BIRTHDAY and she was responding to each one. She sent some links for some sites back as she responded to each one….gifts to give her family and friends. This is probably what you blocked.

If this was the case, I suggest you find a more human way of checking. Obviously if this were the case, your filtering algorithms were misleading and need to be tweaked.

I have included my wife's email address on the CC of this email as well as Michelle's. Michelle can vouch for the character of my wife since they work together on the bereavement site.

Anna, I couldn't get online during the day and we didn't celebrate in the 'traditional birthday cake, candles, and party hats' way.

Is this a traditional way for you to celebrate, though? I wonder how many of us have celebrated this way.

Meenakshi, I felt your presence strongly, none the less! Yummy cake, thank you, makes me think of the gorgeous carrot cake Gien made for me.
I would hardly say this was a traditional way for me to celebrate - it was the biggest party I've ever had! I do not celebrate my birthday with parties. My family and friends call me and sometimes like to give presents. Gien and I like to use these special days to raise our awareness of our love for each other and also to love all beings

Gien and I stayed on after puja and teachings at the Lam Rim Tibetan Buddhist centre today where we were married on this day last year and renewed our vows to each other. Well - more like - expanded on the initial ones. It is so beautiful having traveled together for one year. It does feel we've known one another for all our lives
