I got veggies(almost)

Just an update on my garden. I am happy to say that everything is blooming and I saw my first tomato this morning.
It's going to be great to eat of the fruits of my labor in a few weeks.

Mum and dad made an unexpected visit this morning, and as usual my dad took himself out into the garden, he came back with an empty pea pod, looking a little guilty - he had enjoyed the fruit or should I say veg of my labours!

I can just taste the peas in the pod. I loved eating them from the garden. In Delhi, where I lived then, they grew only in winter.

I used to steal greenbeans from my aunt's garden-and peas too!
She used to have a fit every time I came over(which was often in the summer).
I can still hear her , “Lizzy! You stay the heck out of my beans and peas!”
She made a green tomato pickle to die for too!!!

My mouth is watering over that tomato, Lizzy!  I sure miss the ones my dad used to grow in his garden…

Cooked a few of the peas with sweetcorn the other day, may just have to snack on the rest as they are ready…the runner beans have flowers on - at last! my dad loves giving me gardening tips and supplied me with some white flowering beans last year….saved a few for seed this year, hope they crop as well as last year….I have loads of memories from childhood shelling peas with my mum and taking the broad beans out of their “fleecy jackets” - must try some broad beans next year, they are lovely cold with salads!
