Jumped in the Deep End, Now Learning How to Swim

Andrew [no longer around] said Sep 21, 2008, 6:47 PM:

Greetings, my name is Andrew, your seriously disturbed new Pod Mod.

Meenakshi blew me away yesterday when she asked me if I would help her by moderating.  Of course the less you know about something the easier it is to commit, so it was REAL easy to say yes.

I'm actually a lot younger that I am.  And a lot older.

According to the calender I qualified to join this pod 2 years and 3 months ago, but who takes any notice of the calender?

I have the maturity and wisdom of an impetuous 5 year old, the knowledge of a 16 year old, (like, 16 year olds know everything), am totally impervious to abuse, I've been insulted by experts, and I'm a rebel without a clue (or should that be cause?).

I'm happy to give answers on the basis of the following price list:

Answers………………………………………………………..$1.00

Answers requiring thought………………………………….$2.50

Correct answers………………………………………………$5.00

Creative answers with big words…………………………$10.00

If you plan to check my profile, turn your speakers on first.

I look forward to meeting my similarly chronologically challenged friends on this, 'our' pod.

Andrew, thank you for agreeing to join us as pod mod. Each of us has a different perspective, and that can add to the vibrancy of the group. We're all 50+ here in earth years and 5-500 in emotional-wisdom-mental years; so, you're not alone.

Andrew,

Welcome among us ! ! ! All impetuousity, intellect, thick skinned acceptance and rebelliousness are welcome to bring freshness to the sometimes plodding nature of our years - if you believe that last phrase, I’ve a bridge in Madison County to sell …ha, LOL!

Sorry, you’ll get no questions from me because Source answers them all for free, so you may go broke working here.

I’ll have to put my headphones on a I go to visit your profile, for I live in close quarters with others who might not be appreciative.

Yep, chronologcally challenged to accept my age - that’s me, all right. Welcome among us !

Deb

I take it Deb, you don't think my future prospects of making a living from  answering questions is particularly promising?

ewww, look out, you made the big time!  wow.  impressive.  truly!

I am old enough to be a discarded and unused speed limit.  Ponder on that one for a while if you dare.

Congratulations, Andrew, and to think I knew you when you were just a you!

We can only play with the hand we are dealt Frances.

Don't worry, I will continue to associate with the little people.

I would hate to get a reputation for being aloof.

Welcome Andrew.
and,  greetings to all other 50* starts.

I am 2 decades plus 1/6th past 50.  I was born during the first third of the 20th century.

Up until a month ago I was worried about failing memory.
I didn't remember it failing so much 20 years ago.

It still fails but I don't worry anymore.

I was screened for the onset of memory loss due to age and/or the onset of dementia or Alzheimer's Disease at a Geriatric memory clinic.

No evidence of abnormal memory loss was found.

Rather, I am found to be above average.  10 to 15 years younger than my age in every way and not expected to visit that clinic again for another 20 years.

Now I am busy considering some long-term goals.

What a difference Good News brings.

[Sotto voce] Aha, someone else I can pull rank on. [Emoticon with haughty tone of voice and raised eyebrows and smirk] I am soooooo much older than you, Andrew, several billion years, to be precise. So if you get any questions you can't answer, just ask me…… ;)   Maybe THAT's how I will make my fortune, at last !!!!

Yet I have the perspective of a newborn, as I just blinked into existence a fraction of a nanosecond ago. Say, is there a manual for this job of life?? (Oops, too late, I just blinked out of existence after another fraction of a nanosecond. Dang, this is pretty strenuous stuff.)

And I never figured out the difference between “mod” and “hip.” Are you one or both or neither???????

Hey, thanks for being willing to help out Meenakshi with this awesome place, the constellation of 50 stars.

You are an awesome addition to the Silliness Squad that secretly operates/infects/leavens/tickles the Community.

Namaste,
OM Bastet

Oh, I forgot to ask your qualifications for being presumptuous enough to call yourself “seriously disturbed.” You must present your resume and be approved to qualify…..
