  janos : Practical philosopher

Applied spirituality

The possible good world (PGW) is not going to arrive by magic regardless of how fervently we envision it as a possibility. It will be the result of workers in the world of concrete manifestation being inspired to right action because of those humans who chose to only see the positive and apply the Hear no evil; speak no evil; see no evil path.

But these light workers on the higher planes of spirituality need to honour the workers in the field in their daily strugle to practice spirituality through engagement with the many world problems that maim and destroy so lives by the dozens every minute.

I tried to express something like this in a community of love-radiating people. As a result I had been summarily banned from it.

I may have been clumsy in my expression but never meant personal offense to anyone by saying it; but have not been given the opportunity to apologise and to refine and explain myself:

Practical Spirituality is marked by personal development on the three levels of Meditation, Study, Service.

We meditate on what we study and on how any wisdom, extracted from study via meditation, can be put into action through service.

If personal change within does not manifest in due course in vigorous involvement in service activities in the outer world, our spirituality is not of a practical kind * and will not contribute to the task of Externalizing on the physical plain the presence of the spiritual hierarchy of the Elder Brothers of the human family.

This community is full of stunning imagery and wording of spirituality but I confess to being confused and saddened by the seeming lack of awareness that every minute of the time while we are thinking of spiritual development hundreds of children die of starvation related diseases.

There must be some serious dearth of practical spirituality in this hallowed corner of cyberspace.*

*OK this is over the top, but hey, the world is in a terrible mess.

Hi Janos!

I’m in complete agreement, although I’ve been cautioned to understand that there are many paths. Still, service is definately part of the paradigm for me, and an ever-increasing one, given the movement of the world and the cosmos.

I don’t think you’ll be booted out here– since there’s only three of us, that is, the two of us make the majority. : ) At least for now. : P anyway, I doubt our gracious cultivator would disagree either.

The world is a terrible mess of ‘unnecessary’ suffering, and if we want a corner of this cyberspace to be devoted to service of the kind you mean– the elder sisters and brothers– then I suppose we’d better create it, eh?

Shall we give them the book of Revelation 10 again Janos?

Hm, you weren’t talking to me, my friend, but I found that passage pretty interesting. (I have a thing for lions : )

Anyone care to speak on this passage in detail?
