Siona can't believe she *just* found this!

Hello freebies!

My name is Siona, and I have Celiac disease (yes, I’m a wheatard). I don’t know how it took me so long to discover this Group, but I’m delighted it’s here, and I’ll try to contribute what I can. I’m mostly looking forward, though, to scouring this Group for recipes and ideas. This is a brilliant idea. :)

Welcome, Siona. Hahaha, a wheatard. Well, there are many recipes here, so I hope you find some that you will enjoy. There’s lots of product info as well, and some stuff that has made the news. We are certainly glad to have finally been “discovered.”

Thank you, Andrea! And yes, I have no idea how this slipped under my Siona-radar. ;) I’m going to invite Franc, too–I’m not the only one on the Gaia Team who can’t
tolerate gluten.

I’m so glad this is here!

My biggest problem isn’t so much cooking (or being cooked for; I have a wonderful boy in my life), but more dealing with the feeling of weakness and neediness around it, if that makes sense. I have such a hard time being “that girl” at restaurants–in all other ways I’m the least picky eater ever and it wreaks havoc on my personal identity to get choosy and paranoid about food in public. It’s in part for that reason that I’ve learned so much from the illness–it’s been a great practice of both acceptance and self-worth.

But maybe I should write about this elsewhere. :)

Welcome, Siona!
I’m sure we can all relate to being “that girl.” Wouldn’t it be grand if we could all get together at an allergen free table to enjoy a great meal with each other’s company?

Welcome Siona!  and thank you for the wheatard reference, that’s a new one to me.

i don’t think of celiac disease as an illness or problem anymore.  i really feel blessed to have my body tell me loud and clear what it needs to feel good.

i never paid attention to labels before celiac.  having to read labels in search of gluten has blossomed into a deep understanding of what i am buying and what we (my family) consumes.

if i had known then, what i know now as a direct result of needing to understand what all those ingredients meant, i would have stepped away from the twinkies a long, long time ago.

let us give thanks at this wonderful gluten free table :)  we can still eat SUGAR :)
