Ambassador Program Update

Hi All,

I hope you are having splendid days! I just wanted to write a little note and give you an update on the relaunch of our Ambassador program, which most of you know about. We had mentioned an April launch, but we are adding a few more goodies for you to use and dev/ technical tweaks, but never fear! The launch is set to happen very soon and you all will be the first to know!

How will I know when it's launched? you ask ;)

Keep an eye on your Gaia inboxes for your invitation to the new program application and pod! It's coming soon and we're excited to get you involved! We're on the edges of our seats!

I've continued to perfect my technique and build my list of satisfied friends over the last 2 years, and I'm confident that, unlike that neat special effect where the action is really in the various Pods around Gaia, having our new tools will be effective helping even better in the future, because real people are forever interesting to other people. They certainly are to me.  Maybe real people and their points of view are the ultimate special effect…  The people I keep meeting on this site are very real.  It is amazing to meet so many that want to help change the world for the better.

You’re invited…

If you’ve been keeping up with the Ambassadors Pod, you know that we’ve been working hard to revitalize the Ambassador Program. And, we’re almost ready to launch the new pod and call to action to the Gaia community.

Of course, we wanted you to be the first to know and the first ones to be invited! We’re asking all of our current Ambassadors to recommit to this new program and spread the love about Gaia. Being a community leader is no small thing. Your efforts here really make a difference and help people build community in a meaningful way, which is all too rare these days.

We know that many of you signed on when we were still Zaadz, some of you, like me, signed on the first day the Ambassador program was launched. That’s awesome! We still want you and completely appreciate all you’ve done to share the goodness. Your enthusiasm is so valuable. We love you and are thrilled to support you in being the brilliant community leaders you are. So, please click here to reapply and continue being the change with us.

Just so you know, you’ll have the rest of the month to reapply and sign up for the new pod before we archive the old one. 

Why a new pod you ask? The site launched in 2005 and it’s inevitable that lives and commitments will change. We’ve found that there are people who, for whatever reason, have become less active as Ambassadors over the past three years. We just want to make sure that everyone in the Ambassadors program wants to be here and is excited about nurturing the Gaia community.

So, it’s up to you!  :)

I’m hoping you will all rejoin and that we’re an even greater force, making a difference. I’m envisioning an incredible world-changing group of Ambassadors that inspire, empower and bring people together in ways that we haven’t even imagined…

On a practical note, when you’re re-accepted you’ll receive a new Welcome Letter (yes, I know this will be a first for some ;) and links to our Ambassador’s Manual (woohoo!) and downloadable goodies to help tell your friends about Gaia and to thank you for all you do. We're also working on Ambassador badge that will show up on your profile so others will know who you are and can ask for your wisdom & guidance.

We’re also going to start initiating Monthly Projects for Ambassadors to help guide our collective efforts and put our ideas into action. These are going to be so much fun!

Hi Sandy, Just to clarify–the questions I had asked you in an email; are for my group called Gaia Networking - Enhance Your Community Experience for the Featured Members section; where we are going to feature different members of our group there, their experience on Gaia and on the group.

All of us Ambassadors on this group,  had  answered questions which led us to be chosen as Ambassadors. Now we're being asked to do it again; and I will enjoy the process to see how things have grown! Did you enjoy writing your answers this time around? I have to admit I haven't done it yet!

Speaking for myself; the questions are giving me space to see how things may have changed when I first joined, as a newbie on Gaia; to now, when I feel less of a newbie! Thanks  for this process, Jessica!

Thanks for the clarification of Sandy's post, Meenakshi.
I was wondering what one had to do with the other.

I did send in my new application as soon as I got the email invitation.

Immediately following my hitting send, I got an email thanking me from
Jessica and the team. I did notice that notification of receipt mail did NOT
go into my gaia mail folder, but came directly to my personal email
account only.

Mentioning it here so Jessica knows that might be a bug.
But I did get a follow up that I did the questionnaire.
This was a problem for many people within the old program.
not getting notified if their application had gone through.

I'm cheering the Gaia Team today, & that includes the ambassadors!

That's all the way it should be.  The confirmation comes as an e-mail.  The acceptance comes as gaia mail.

Yeah _ i think all has been clarified now!
And Meenakshi -I didn't go anywhere near into the same depth
with my answers as I did for you!

I was a bit suprised to have to “re-appy” really and also wonder does
that mean that our final links to our previous zaadz movement have gone,
I wonder? That would be a shame really -be nice if us former zaadster's
could have some sort of extra “emblem” on out badges?

I think I was the last Australian to be accepted as an  Ambassador ,
due to the them lack of numbers here -and due to the postage
I guess -I never did get my T.Shirt anyway's!

But I have seen one -my friend David who first introduced me to
zaadz ,DID get his!
There are a number more of us Aussie's here now and I even work
with one of them ,Will Feather's -we have gone to rallies together in
Brisbane.He has had contact and met other members for here too.

I have alway's wanted to promote us more -and have been doing so
lately ,through my Global Peace Network -
being an “offical” Ambassador will help give me more credence.

Hey All,

So, I've finished the first round of applications! And, Sandy, just to let you know the re-application is to really ensure that everyone who is an Ambassador wants to be and is committed. We know things change for people and we want Ambassadors to really be there for the community, especially with the badges coming up! Also, the questions are a bit different this time and geared towards learning how people plan to contribute to the community.

The new badges, when you see them, are simple but show who you are. It would be a bit complicated to mark all the old members since we've had new applicants from after the Gaia transition as well, and yes, part of the transition is about really embracing our new name and “being Gaia”.

I've loved reading your beautiful entries! So, thank you all for filling out the app.

I am kinda puzzled, as AMB in a box on someone's profile will mean NOTHING to the average community member. Would it be too much to ask that it say Community Ambassador???!!! Or is ~Matthew working on something fancier and what we have now is just a placeholder?

And Jessica, I posted elsewhere a query about how people will be able to read posts from the old Ambassadors pod?? Did you see that query? And I am kinda confused because I see two URLs, and actually this post is to the old pod I see, but I THINK there is only one pod listed in My Groups anymore….. Can you essplain to this Dummy?

Sandy, of the 1350 old Ambassadors, I doubt that even 1/4 will bother to re-apply, that's my guess, so this reapplication process is a way of finding out who really still IS an Ambassador, committed enough to spend the time on a few questions !!! It's not to question the validity of the Ambassadorship of those of us who really are active. It's a weeding, not a validation.

It is listed in the cafe list on the new pod.

As i said there, I have the old and new pods listed in my pod list from my
profile page. both of yours should be there also.

The old pod is shown GROWN BY ~C4

and the new pod is shown GROWN BY JESSICA

Hi OM,

You have two ambassador pods listed in your list of groups.  If you can't see both, please let me know.  But I just checked your account and they're both there from what I can see :)

And the badge is meant to look that way.  It was designed by our professional designer.  I just put it where he wanted it.  But I also hyperlinked it, so that if anyone is wondering what it means, all they have to do is click it :)

And yes, the re-application is a re-committment.  The new ambassadors ought to be enthusiastic ones who really, really love this community and are willing to take charge and inspire tons of world-changing activity.  Jessica has planned a ton of stuff for the new program, so ambassadors who re-commit can be expecting a lot of opportunity to really ambassadorize the place up.

I thought I was reading all the notifications, but maybe I am not on Notifications for BOTH pods, aha !!!!! So thanks for the heads up, Ladybear.

Ummmm ,maybe I am not looking in the right place-or have
mis-understood -but are we supposed to see the old AND the
new Ambassador Pods in our “My Groups” listing?

Yes,

We see BOTH old and new Ambassador pods on our list.
They have different URLs.

But the same name, and as explained to me, the only differences in the My Groups list is the number of members, and who sprouted it (Jessica or ~C4Chaos) and when (2006 vs 2008.)

And they are listed far apart in the My Groups list, because of the difference in number of Members. Of the 1350 we are down to 64 at my last perusal. People better get with it and re-apply !!!! We want more !!!!

As I said in the other thread, the invitation formally went out just 2 days ago, May 22
 via Gaia Team Blog .

This is a long holiday weekend here in the US, so the team response will be slow
to answer questions anywhere on the website this weekend.

Personally, I don't understand the confusion people have between the 2 pods.
You are right Meenakshi, they have 2 different LOGOS & different URLS.

If anyone is confused by seeing 2 Ambassador Pods;

The old pod has a Zaadz Seed logo and reads GROWN BY ~C4.

The new pod has a GAIA Flower logo and reads GROWN BY Jessica.

If you are a NEW GAIA ambassador, Please post to the NEW GAIA pod


If you haven't applied to the new program, please click the Gaia Team Blog invitation
and you will be notified immediately that your application went to review.
It will only take a few days to get your welcome response. When you are accepted,
you'll get a Kewl New Ambassador Badge placed onto your profile page.

I sent my re-application in last week - as soon as I received the invitation.  I received the confirmation email but no word since.  The new pod does not show up on my list.  Do I need to apply again, or was I simply turned down?

Will you be letting anyone who failed perusal know or just gradually shifting to the new pod and leaving the rest behind?  The email confirmation used the words quick look and soon, otherwise I would not be wondereing.   (At looks like at least someone is wondering where the rest are.  Maybe some re-applications went missing through a glitch.)

I will happily send in another re-application (and re-re-apply) if you cannot find the first one…or if everything is ok I would appreciate a word…or if I am rejected I would appreciate a word.

Hi Elizabeth,

You will get your notice of acceptance within a few days.
The arrival of the email that it was received shows proof it went through.
No need to reapply, that will slow things down even more!

Don't worry, it takes usually about 3 days, for you to get your new acceptance letter,
but this is a long holiday weekend in the US and most of the team will
not be working. So this process will slow a bit because of this.

Be Patient, and keep an eye on your profile page. You never know when that
new badge will show up!

Thanks for following through with your commitment to be an ambassador.

I'm not Jessica, <director of the ambassador program> but knowing Gaia as I do,
NO ONE will be left without word and just left behind if they wanted to come along.

However it has been since May 14th.  I would not have written about this because I HAVE BEEN waiting patiently. 

Except someone was wondering where all the rest of the Zaadz Amassadors are and that makes it sound possible to me that some of the applications went missing even after the confirmation was sent - through a glitch of some weird sort.  I know Gaia pretty well too.

So I still wonder, but thanks anyway.  I am still hoping for a word from someone involved in this process.  And I shall CONTINUE to wait patiently.  I shall even forget about until it comes around on my follow-up list again.

Yes, Elizabeth,
Now I can understand your fustration with it!

I also re-applied on May 14, got my immediate response for receipt of application.
Then on May 16 received my acknowledgement of acceptance.
So there does seem to be a problem with Jessica not getting back to you.

It might be best to drop her a mail directly, instead of going through the process of
application again. jessica @ gaia <dot> com

I already did send an email a few days ago and so far have received no response.  I will send one more email and then just let it go. 

I was one of the first Zaadz Ambassadors and I have wanted to continue but…well, we shall see what comes to pass.
