Ways of Praying

Ways of Praying

Let us join Amma's prayers:

“Everyone in the world should be able to sleep without fear, at least for one night. Everyone should be able to eat to his or her fill, at least for one day. There should be at least one day when hospitals see no one admitted due to violence. By doing selfless service for at least one day, everyone–from little children to the very elderly–should help raise money for the poor and needy… even if by making toys. It is Amma's prayer that at least this small dream be realised.”

“Amma still sees dark clouds enveloping the world. Only the cool breeze of sincere and innocent prayers can lift these clouds and turn them into a shower of Divine Grace.”

Various prayer options:

* to chant Aum Amriteswaryai Namah (a mala or as many or as
few as is comfortable)

*to chant your own mantra, given by Amma, or some other mantra you feel especially drawn to

* to chant the Gayatri mantra:
om bhur bhuvah svah
tat savitur varenyam
bhargo devasya dhimahi
dhiyo yo nah prachodayat

* to chant the 108 Names of Amma

* to chant the Lalita Sahasranama

* to chant the Mahamrtunjaya Mantra:
om tryambakam yajamahe sugandhim pushtivarddhanam
urruvarukamiva bandhanan mrtyor mukshi ymamrtat

* to chant Lokah Samastah Sukhino Bhavantu (at least three times, or a mala)

* to pray in any other way that suits you

Some devotees may feel moved to intensify their prayers, when a strong need is felt, by observing a vow such as fasting or silence for part or all of a day. It is said that this conserves and builds spiritual energy. Please do what feels right and is feasible for your particular situation.
