Ego Description? -Question Q45 from blogs.amritapuri.org

Advait said Feb 25, 2008, 4:00 PM:

“What for you is the most accurate description for the ego? Is it ’selfishness and egoism’? ‘Self importance’? ‘Identification with (a wrong or limited identity)’? Something else?”

to me the ego is simply what it says - the I, or the self… i think the difficulty isn't having an ego, because it's good to have a self :)  but the relationship we have with who we are.

it is important to know who you are - Know Thyself - and to know what you want - Lao Tzu

“At the center of your being you have the answer; you know who you are and you know what you want.”

But it's what you do with that. Do you run around pushing everyone else out of the way so you can have what you want? or do you love and appreciate and serve all in humility? Very different outcomes.

light and peace,
