Why do Young Artists Have to Struggle to Produce Art?

Keeping it quick and to the point:

My son Jordan (singer/songwriter/novelist/graphicartist/filmmaker) has entered a contest to create a plot line for a horror film for HorrrorFest 2008). He loves horror movies (he DID NOTget that from me) and has come up with something clever. The problem is, he just found out about the contest yesterday and the deadline for votes for the winning concept is MONDAY.

If you like--or can stand--the horror genre at all, or if you just love film, or if you think artists should be given every chance to make art, please go before Monday to: http://www.massify.com/pitches/channel
and vote for Jordan's concept. It will involve registering on the site (it can be rather anonymous) and then casting your vote. He would really appreciate your support!

It's a little frustrating that talented young artists have to jump through rather stupid hoops sometimes to get support for their creative efforts, but that is a discussion for another blog.

International ArtExpo is selecting all interesting video/short.films to include in the next 2007 Exhibitions:

Liquid room - Video Art & Architecture event at the Cultural Communication Centre of Klaipeda, Lithuania (April 6-8, 2007). The deadline for applications is March 10, 2007.

The number of works with you can participate is unlimited. All works must be on DVD (PAL or NTSC), no matter what the original source medium. The duration may be any, with a preference given to a max lenght of 15 minutes. If you are interested, send your video submissions (Name/Surname, City/Country, Film title, Running time, Brief film synopsis) with a CV/biography, videography and an introduction about the piece to:

I am blessed with having been in the place and time to have directed a situational documentary film. Henry Miller and Henry Miller Memorial Library, and it's people, figure in it.

"Traveling by car with only a card table and chairs, a few spiritual items, a lifetime of study and experience, and a consuming drive to foster global understanding and harmony through teaching, one man named Dovid happens upon the Henry Miller Memorial Library in Big Sur. The library is a tribute to the late author who, in the mid 20th century, represented the clash of censorship with freedom of expression. Here, under redwood forest on high cliffs above the Pacific, Dovid expounds on Cabalistic teachings of sexual energy, cosmic metaphor, and historical prophecy in the human process of repairing the universe.
