The Wisdom Of Yoga

I ahve been totally engrossed in this amazing book. It has all the philosophy of yoga and buddhism! plus a bare, to the point translation of the Yoga Sutras. It's only 257 pages or so and it's very light easy reading. It is my yoga bible! It is amazing.

Has anyone else read this book?

I find lately that I'm not interested in dense philosophical books anymore. I'm more interested now in light books that have all the goodies in condensed easy to understand form.

Hey Ralph,

How syncronistic.  I was just lookin at this book on amazon and deciding whether to pick it up or not. So thanks for the recommendation.

A fellow yogi from my class really enjoyed his first one “yoga and the quest for true self” have you read that one?

Speaking of.. I highly recommend the yoga sutra translation/commentary by Chip Hartranft. I wouldn't say its in any way a light read, but as a vipassana meditator I found his commentary very insightful and really focused on the workings of consciousness and using meditation for liberation.

the funny part is: The author of The Wisdom.. highly recommends that some translation of the yoga sutras and the bare version is what's in his book!

….I have to jump in and vouch for Chip and his Sutra translation! I actually live right around the corner from his studio (and teach there)…He’s an amazing guy!
