THE AUDACITY OF HOPE

In the Audacity of Hope, Barack Obama's book, he explains his entire view of America and what is needed. He makes some very profound statements, and shows some profund insight.

He is able to see faults in Democrats and Republicans, and in himself as well as the good.

For instance he admires some Senators that voted against civil rights, because he can see beyond just those votes to where they have some admirable qualities.

He did not  take funding from wealthy donors he states when he was running for the Illinoise Senate (Of which he was for 8 years before runnign for US Senate). He goes into detail how when he ran for US Senate, he had to look to wealthy donors but always kept himself knowing of the regular person.

He said Senators tend to begin socializing only with those wealthy donors, the top 1% income earners as he says,  and that the plight of the common man becomes a distant echoe but he has consciously tried to keep himself aware and around those he truly represents.

He is VERY honest in this book.

I'd second that sentiment.  Even as the media and other candidates start to press the “he-doesn't-have-any-specifics” line, The Audacity of Hope lays out a number of his ideas and policy proposals in specifics, and with remarkable (for politics) consistency with his proposals as candidate Obama.

More than that (for me), it gives a great insight into the way Senator Obama thinks about issues and politics in general, and it feels to me like a genuine, authentic, and open expression of his work.

And if that's not enough, there are a number of times when I thought I was reading a book on Integral Politics.  Chapter 1 (when he talks about Reagan and Clinton) and the chapter on race were highlights for me.

I cross-posted ~C4Chaos blog for here as I find it important:  Thanks for putting together all of the data.

I’m not a very political person. I grew up loathing politics in my country of origin. But as a first generation immigrant and a first time voter here in the U.S., this election is very important to me. I followed it since the primaries. I got to know all the candidates. I watched the debates. I read their web sites. I watched the cable news. I investigated the issues on the internet. I’ve constantly read FactCheck.org. I blogged my heart out on political matters.

As a result, I’ve learned a lot of things in U.S. politics that I never paid attention to before. And for the first time in my life I contributed to a political campaign in exchange for a cool car magnet, and a sense of hope that things will be better than the last eight years of failed G.W. Bush policies and politically brain dead Democratic and Republican parties.

I originally planned to vote on November 4 so I could experience using those hi-tech voting machines at the polls, but I opted to vote by mail instead. I might as well vote early, save gas, and beat the long lines on election day. CONTINUE READING>

I'm still tearful and reflecting on all of what this incredible victory means to our country and to the world. We talked about it … we hoped for it and now … HERE IT IS!!! What an incredible sensation! I watched the faces of the crowd in Chicago both while they listened to McCain's consession speech and while they listened to Barack's Acceptance Speech!!! What a wild and wonderful time we are witnessing. We are so fortunate to be alive and witnessing and LIVING through all of this… !!!

more to come …

YES WE CAN!!!

I love the name of this pod because it is what is needed - many think their job is done after they vote, but imagine if we changed that attitude and did what we're supposed to do - let the government be by the people for the people…we the people have to get involved and remain involved.

To anyone who wants to understand in an easy & entertaining way, why nothing gets done in the government (or use to :) - please get a copy of the movie “The Distinguished Gentleman” by Eddie Murphy. (KES, you gotta see this movie). This movie was quickly put on hush when those in power realized Eddie was telling everything. - Please get a copy of this movie!!! It will educate you on things in under 2 hours that would otherwise take a lot of reading/studying (please still feel free to read and study) - but the true info is hard to find and he was able to get away with putting it in a movie because it just seemed like a comedy.

YESSSSS!!!! This is not just about a new president, from a spiritual perspective, I am privy to some truths that are well beyond flesh. Obama has a spiritual team with him that has come to help him be a catalyst to improve the world. Did anyone realize the odd chance of his grandmother dying on the eve of the election? Aren't we always talking about synchronicity:) Yes.

I am so elated - just have been since I awoke…it too is connected to the spiritual elements of this new energy…and in addition to that - I'm thrilled with this election and to be American today - and I haven't be able to say that for sometime.

Hi you guys!  OH!  I'm SO happy!!!  My goodness!  I always had hope (yes, I read the book too, in January of 2007), but given the bitter disappointments of the last 2 presidential races, would not let myself believe totally until I saw these historic events take place tonight!

I was leaving work after teaching a night class, walking down a shadowy hall with my briefcase toward a brighter hall with a flat screen tv monitor on the wall that displays news during the day to students.  There was, of course, nobody around at that time, and I heard all this cheering from the tv monitor coming down the hall, and I thought…  Oh my God!  Does that mean…???!!!!  And I just stood there in the hall gazing up at the monitor, and after all this time, allowing myself to start believing that finally, finally we have a real chance, and our time has come!  Oh My God!!!  Oh My!  And looking at the faces of the people, and my eyes tearing up.  Oh, I feel like dancing!!!

Tears filled my eyes and my heart swelled with joy as I watched the returns . I wrote my celebration speech yesterday A.M. before leaving on a trip and today I see the reality of the power of co-creating with the Universe!!!  There are no words to express the JOY and HOPE and AWARENESS that engulfs me as I process this AMAZING VICTORY!!!

CONGRATULATIONS & CONDOLENCES seem to reflect the mood of this day.  Just as President Barack Obama expressed the reality of the state of this nation coupled with the message of Hope and Change in his sobering message and just as he was standing between two worlds of VICTORY having won the office of President of the United States of America and SADNESS having lost the woman who raised him and was a mother/grandmother to him it seemed to symbolize our current state.  We stand between the utter shock of the decline of our nation in the past years and  the turning tides of upward CHANGE!

LET US REJOICE, CELEBRATE, ABSORB this GREAT victory and LET US HOLD THE HIGHEST INTENTIONS for this nation, the inhabitants of this planet and LET US BE THE CHANGE!!!

THANK YOU ALL FOR BEING HERE!!! THANK YOU ALL FOR CREATING A WAY FOR US TO JOIN OUR HEARTS AND HANDS TO CREATE A BRIGHTER TOMORROW AND TO KNOW WHAT IT TRULY MEANS TO BE ONE!!!

CONGRATULATIONS PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA!!!!

LOVE TO US ALL!!!

YES, YES, & YES WE CAN & DID…

Congratulations to all those who felt the call years ago - and wisely responded….
Congratulations to all those who watched & encouraged the flow
Congratulations to all those who voted & to all who supported the voters

We are grateful, we are grateful…….

And now the real work begins.

We must support this President as he rolls out new ideals on ways to change, new opportunities; we may disagree with some of his plans, so, we must think carefully & wisely & gather the FACTS & then jump in & support.

This is a celebration!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We DID it, We DID it!  And yes we can and will keep doing what we need to do.

8 years of grief and feeling squeezed in the guts knowing political and election shenanigans in Ohio were partly responsible for the yuck happening in the US and around the world started getting released last night in the primal screaming local Obama staffers and core volunteers let loose in our semi-rural county headquarters when we heard MSNBC and FOX news call Ohio for Obama.

For a little while we rest and celebrate.

love and blessings

Based on the comment that was mentioned “He is very honest in this book”, it convinced me to go and try to read the book.  I like politicians that are honest.
