"The future is not a result of choices among alternative paths offered by the present, but a place that is created -- created first in the mind and will, created next in activity."

"The future is not some place we are going to, but one we are creating. The paths are not to be found, but made, and the activity of making them, changes both the maker and the destination."

Presenting an editorial excerpt from AWFSM

Where Can We Go?

Is it just me ... or have you had the same desire lately? Just wanting to get away from all of it. Like falling into bed and pulling the covers over your head to shut out the world. Or maybe, just getting into the car and driving on and on with no destination in mind.

Yes, that is an 'escapist' attitude. But sometimes the urge to just get away from it all is simply overwhelming. It's not that life is so difficult. There isn't even that much going on for me personally. Still the craving comes, sometimes out of the blue; just to leave it all behind. Perhaps it reflects the world's condition right now. All the wars, global warming, national skyrocketing debts, the escalating poverty that is now worldwide, social and economic upheavals, or all the tragic global events rolled into one.

But, here I am. Here I am at my keyboard, typing away. Writing about it instead. Anyway you look at it, there is still the big question that looms overhead ... where can you go? Exactly where do you think you can go? Where is there to go to escape to?

The old proverbial saying rings in my mind ... "where ever you go, there you are". Quaint isn't it? Almost sickening on the other hand. I get tired of myself, little less everyone else and everything else. Especially someone else's 'thata quote'. Then again, if I'm not talking to myself, I'm listening to others who are talking, or I'm busy reading what others are busy talking about or writing about. This all presents a constant hum of white static; filling my mind with brain wave patterns overlapping one another at dizzying speeds.

Vacations? Although inviting, such vacations are not the remedy. Most vacations abound in too much activity, which does not resolve the inner conflicts. But there is one solution that works. It seems to be known by a few, but actually practiced by fewer. It is an instant, age old remedy handed down through generations. The only catch is, that it has to be approached on a personal basis.

I literally use this remedy as often as needed. It comes with taking the time to seek a place of pure stillness. Not silence; for that is not always possible. Quietness, yes. Peacefulness, yes. A sort of mini retreat. A respite away from everything and everybody. That is where we need to go. That is where I have learned to go. Seeking that inward place of greater isolation. The place of pure delicious solitude.

Within this short hiatuses there is no me, and there is simply no one else and nothing else. No yesterdays, and no tomorrows. Absolutely nothing. A blissful stillness.

Sometimes I'm in that special place in a blink of an eye. Other times, it is a trek all of its own. But it is my refuge and a comforting security. Usually I find this place in the wee hours of the early morning. The outside traffic has died down. The rest of house is dark in the veil of sleep; all except for me. Wide awake inside, yet drowsy enough to enjoy the presence of nothing, I journey to my private oasis.

The lonely solitude is a soothing ointment for healing. Deep within, my soul is greeted and carried into the grateful void. No demands coming from the outside world or from the inside world of my own soul. A place of total acceptance in genuine warmth and love. Wafting an ambiance in ageless wisdom and pure intelligence all its own.

Maybe some of you recognize this cure all place by a different name. Or perhaps by a different avenue of purpose altogether. I simply call it my place of communion. Not that I have to call it anything, or even do anything at all, but be there. It is eternalized as the unsaid prayer.

In my there-ness I'm touched with the heartbeat of the universe that feels no ill will at all. A God given retreat that shelters my spirit in a renewing energy of goodwill. Such times never seem rehearsed or humdrum. In fact just the opposite, because like a magnet this dwarfing heavenly solitude draws upon my being prompting a return time and time again.

Yes, God, here I am. Yes, great cosmos, here we are together again. Let me sit in the lap of the universe and rock gently with its rhythm of life.

I guess I do go somewhere after-all. I guess there really is a place to go for all of us who feel the need to get away. The uncharted hi-ways and byways of our infinite life. No matter how many venture therein, there is always room for more. For we all come away from these inter-dimensional so-journey's knowing full well that the next trek will be just as wonderfully rewarding.

It is time to step it up! It is up to me & it is up to you. Let's stop waiting for someone else to do it. Only as we begin to realize that WE are the ones who are responsible, will any real change take place in our own lives. If we really want to BE the change we want to see in the world today ... it will happen.

We are responsible for what we think, choose, act upon, & allow into our lives. Remembering that we will attract exactly what we focus upon in life. We will bring into our lives exactly what we draw our own attention toward.

Here are a few simple pointers to take into consideration to actually BE the change we want to see in the world today.

1. Each One of Us Taking Responsibility for Our Own Life

We do not have any control over anyone else's life, only as an influence can we even begin to help anyone else. Responsibility starts within ourselves first. When we are responsible for our own lives, we come out from the victim mentality of blame and irresponsibility that leads to anger, shame, & low self esteem.

Our lives change as we change. If we do not like our changes, we need to take personal control, face up to the challenge, & allow ourselves to begin again. We need to carefully consider, concentrate, pray, & seek what is really important.

What we believe is exactly what we are, & our lives will show exactly the same.

2. Looking at Clear Picture of What Kind of Changes We Really Desire

Each thought brings about a coresponding action that shapes our minutes, hours, days, weeks, & years. Hence our lives. Looking at ourselves, inside & outside, & asking if this is what we really want to BE. Allow our prayers to search our hearts & motives, asking God for continual guidiance.

As we change our thoughts our actions will change likewise. Think about it. That can produce some powerful changes!

3. Remembering We are Co-creators in Our Lives

Once again, our thoughts of yesterday have affected our path today. There is a Universal Law of Attraction - that tells us like attracts like & a Universal Law of Reaping - that tells us we reap what we have sown. In other words we are in a continuos ripple effect from the moment we are born till the time we depart from this earth.

4. Learning to Believe because WE are Responsible Co-creators

We learn to believe God, we learn to believe that we are more than the sum of our parts. We learn to believe that there is much more to our lives than meets the proberbial eye.

We are far more valueable than we once knew, & so is everyone else. Even more so, the more we believe! This is not religion, this is not doctrine, it is the acknowledgement of finding our true being as created by God. Our true purpose of being. Our true person. The one that dwells deep within the hidden resources of our spirit & soul.

This kind of believing creates. Creates well being. Creates unity. Creates a special wholeness that grows & expands. Such believing changes our perspective & our perceptions. We don't have to know it all, just have to start believing.

5. Discovering We Really Have Little or Nothing to Fear

Uncertainty is not fear. Unknowing is not fear. We can allow ourselves room to be uncertain, and not know everything; & yet still believe. Constantly looking upon our difficult moments with truth, knowing that as we face them our focus will help us overcome. Step by step, the path becomes easier. Step by step, as we attend to the little things in our life, the path continues & the journey becomes enjoyable. By co-creating an environment with God, inside & outside we support the exquisite design of life that is meant to BE.

6. Being Open & Receiving What We Have Created

Remaining in the constant thought of Being a Change allows change to come our way. With the thoughts, attitudes, & actions that correspond our Being will start to change ourselves & our situations.

We are Beings who are full of energy. God made each one of us that way. Our energy can work for us or against us, according to what we are believing. According to what we are focusing our attention upon, according to what our heart is holding onto, or releasing.

If we really want to Be the change we want to see, then we will. It is a constant positive that emits a constant positive force. Yes, a positive energy. No this is not new age, it is not affirmations, it is not just believing & receiving.

It is the total commitment of responsibility with God to allow our perceptions & perspectives to be illuminated in wholeness of being within ourselves first & then outward. We become one with God & one with ourselves. We come to our Being. BEING the change we want to see in the world ... today.

For it is always a ... new ... day!

Spiritual Burnout?

I've heard about this happening to many people lately. Is spurred this short article.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The times and seasons in our lives brings about many changes. Not only do we experience the outside changes that life brings naturally to us, our inner being is changing likewise.

In our process of becoming who we really desire to be, our inner heart and soul are moving us onward in varying degrees. We usually think as we go about our changes that we are in complete control of ourselves. Only to find out in one unusual flash of uncontrolled circumstances, that sometimes we have little to say of who is in control after all.

We are not just the human factor that is living, breathing, walking, talking, etc ... We are also the spiritual factor. Only this area is a little more difficult to process and understand since it tends to be more hidden than the natural body we abide in. If our natural senses tell us we are hungry, we eat. If we are happy, we smile, if we are mad, we ... well you get the drift. Our spiritual self is a bit more complicated, until it is better known in the same disciplined ways.

It has been suggested that we are spiritual beings on an earthly journey; not human beings on a spiritual journey. Do you hear the difference. Sometimes it is this exacting leap of faith in the difference between those two suggestions that can cause us to fall into an exasperating spiritual burnout. And, so it should. Spiritual burnout is not necessarily bad.

In our constant changes we often find that we cannot continue on the same path doing the same thing all of our life. Be it our career path, our family path, or our spiritual path. We do come to a fork in the road at certain intervals along the way. Each time we come to this proverbial fork in the road, it is decision time. It is the time to make a clear cut choice. We should take this time and consider all our options. It will take everything we have, inside and outside, to come into the essential understanding of which way to go next. But never the less, we press on; because we know we instinctively have to.

In some cases, this junction point can bring pressures that we once thought would never come into our lives. Mental stress, heartfelt confusions, spiritual decompression. Spiritual burnout is inevitable. But, we must remember that this is also a needed point in our lives. Once again, remember that spiritual burnout is not necessarily a bad thing to experience.

In such times our heart, soul, and spirit are coming into oneness like never before. Nothing you can literally see. The inner being you call yourself is going through a process of shaking off the old, and putting on the new. The change sometimes is difficult, because we think we have somehow lost our way and spirituality doesn't seem to fit us as comfortably as before. In actuality, that is the up beat part of the whole burnout phase. That which is uncomfortable, will eventually start melting away and a new strength of heart and soul will start resounding within. The spirit will once again arise to it's new day and it will be like the curtain being flung aside and the light of day will pour in once again. But, better than before.

The spiritual burnout will become a past memory, and the renewed strength within will allow you to see it for exactly what it all was. But, with a sense of wisdom and gratefulness. Because you will realize that where you are in the now, is the place you always knew you wanted to be. That my friend, is something the you could never have purchased or thought possible to happen. It is all due to the seasons and times of our life.
