Think of the world as one household. The house is small, the income fixed, and they cannot move. The family already has a child, and cannot feed another, and yet they think of having another child. Either the quality of life will suffer and each will have less food, they will put one out to starve, close the
I know, since there are so many eco-minded and wonderful people on Zaadz, that there must be many of you who've recognized that the only way to really save our planet is to be child-free. There are several sites that make the entire connection between ecoism and child-freeness, and i'd like to add that veganism is the other necessity to saving our planet. At http://www.echildfree.com/ and http://www.ecoeat.com/, you'll enjoy reading the connections, in case you've not yet decided to stay child-free or to veganize. Obviously, with children starving all over the world, the only compassionate or even sane thing to do is to be child-free, or if one has the urge to parent, to adopt. In fact, adopting children rather than bearing them is the highest calling for those who truly want to help to save our planet. Just as with so many other animals, human overpopulation is causing so many millions of babies and children to suffer and to die every day, that the absurdity of people issuing others onto a crowded world is tragic. But with humans, the effect is far worse than the over-population of other animals, such as dogs and cats - billions of whom are killed solely due to lack of resources for them to live- but with humans, not only do we have the dying milions of children, but we have the creation of ever more and more people who continually pollute an already dying planet. The little useless and token gestures of recycling or buying eco are very like treating a man dying of AIDS with only a band-aid. With the commitment of people as yourselves, who express the willingness to dedicate yourselves to changing the world by being child-free and by becoming vegans, then our planet just might have a chance. I'm inspired by http://www.ecoize.com/ because they promote ecoizing, veganizing, and being child-free.
By the way, I'm often emailed and asked if it's ok to join if someone has already had children, and the answer is - of course! This is a discussion forum, where we exchange ideas and information. Many who have had kids have understood that the world is overloaded with people and now wish to stay child-free. More and more of us are deciding to be child-free! It's a great time to be alive! For unknown millenia, women had no choice at all. There was always sex, whether we knew then it was related to child-birth or not, and after puberty, the inevitability and the terror - since, as today, pregnancy was always fraught with health risks - and the tragedies, the instability, the usually early deaths due to so many pregnancies - well, they all must have dreamed of birth control. And now we have it, and can extend that freedom to all people of the world! This is a celebration of the fact that we are enough by ourselves, that we understand that to save the world we need to be child-free, and that our talents and energies can be devoted to wonderful contributions rather than spent in ego-driven hearth and home pursuits. Child-free is for everyone! Join us! (less)

A woman on the upper east side of New York or in Malibu … has a child. That child will have between eight hundred and a thousand times more negative impact on the environment of the Earth than a child born to a woman in Bangledesh. Where do we preach birth control? Bangledesh. (Terrance McKenna).
In the days to come we need to be compassionate to all with understanding. We also need to be aware of the facts at hand.
More than understanding and intention: we need action- from all of us, that includes you and me. I'm up for the challenge.
That's so right, Happi Ness! As in the Peace March tomorrow, we all need to become responsible, committed, and active! We, as the privilaged nations, need to lead! We need to first curtail our own destructive habits, including breeding babies the world does not need and adopting the ones who will not have life otherwise or at least to work toward a better tomorrow - or ANY tomorrow for all! The lesser-developed nations so far have no adequate birth control and no choices in life. We have many choices, and can choose to make sure we do not become pregnant which is the best gift we could possibly give the world!
Then, with the energy and resouces we save, we can become active and save the world!
We can share.
We can create new ways to deal with old problems - as long as we first understand that human population is the major destructive force on the planet!
Let's all get active today in finding ways we can personally contribute to save the world!
