I just got this email from Dropping Knowledge newsletter. check out the links to the videos and transcripts tackling the issue of Climate Change. very enlightening. three free voices on climate change “Tackling climate change is not a matter of choice”, said Kenyan President Mwai Kibaki at the UN climate conference this month in Nairobi. “It is an imperative that must be addressed if we are to ensure the continued survival of life on our planet.” As the two-week climate conference comes to an end today, now is the time to see how we can address the pressing issue of climate change. Take a look at how three Table of Free Voices participants responded to the question: What can I do and tell others to do to stop global warming?
“Wherever you see a politician asking for your vote, ask them: what’s your plan to tackle climate change or global warming?” Simon Retallack (UK), head of the Climate Change Team at the Institute for Public Policy Research, the UK's leading independent progressive think tank. See Simon´s full video answer and transcript
“We will have to get very creative about how to … deal with dry deserts because when the mountaintop ice melts, the glaciers, they don’t feed the rivers any more.” Dr. Elisabet Sahtouris (USA, Greece), biologist, futurist, author, member of the World Wisdom Council, and fellow of the World Business Academy. See Elisabet´s full video answer and transcript “We can no longer have governments which will go and fight wars for the sake of oil.” Anuradha Mittal (India, USA), founder and director of The Oakland Institute, a policy think tank dedicated to creating a space for public participation and democratic debate on key social, economic, environmental and foreign policy issues. See Anuradha´s full video answer and transcript Over 100 more answers to this question can be found in The Table of Free Voices Archive. Also be sure to check out how Table participants answered questions like “What if all Chinese people want a car?” or “Whose responsibility is it to manage the world’s resources?”
Touring Europe to raise awareness From November 8-12 our team has traveled around Europe to discuss dropping knowledge and connect with others involved with social change. Brussels / Belgium Zurich / Switzerland We introduced the global dialog platform at the Portuguese Forum on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). dropping knowledge also joined the discussion about “Visions and Attitudes for a Sustainable Portugal,” arguing the need for a global perspective on national issues. Our hosts in Lisbon were also the people behind the first and only Portuguese magazine about CSR, Impactus (English version). Platform update: new features and better usability www.droppingknowledge.org now offers a new interface on the homepage, highlighting the most active media, questions and discussions, as well as the latest posts and hottest topics. In the left column you can also find loads of visual media to browse, share, and mash-up, including the Robbie Conal Poster Gallery, where you’re encouraged to add your own touches to the work of the LA-based guerilla artist and Table of Free Voices participant. As we speak, the dk web team is building a “Claim Your Question” function, which will hopefully match the anonymous entries on the platform with the people who posted them. Meanwhile all video and text will be formatted to make it easily found by search engines. |
