Thanks for offering to take a look at my ad. Unfortunately the ad I started with, 2colsx4in in the local newspaper, was about a membership sale that is no longer relevant. I am admittedly starting this on half a shoe string and am now putting a 2colx1in ad in the paper weekly providing the logo, "ages 8 to 88", my phone number and then under all that "Helping people succeed in school and in life." Black background, white text. Obviously this is just designed to create a continuous presence. The previous ad had a list of programs I intend to start, some of which I have on my schedule.

Although keeping an ad in the paper strikes me as wise, I believe figuring out how to connect with school personnel and parents is my best bet and biggest challenge. To that end I'm on my second attempt (the other started too close to school opening) to talk to principals. If I don't hear back from any by the end of the week, I intend to try talking to counselors. My first go around, when I was actually trying to find out how to contact Parent Teacher Organizations (and was deflected in every attempt), I was handed off to an after school program director and to a counselor. I had productive conversations with them. Both said I'd likely not get much business until after the first report cards came out. But I'm not one to let things lie. I have also contacted the head of the Girl Scouts in this area and have left a message for the Boy Scouts organizer as well. All of these contacts are not only to be spreading my name around but to ask what subject causes students the most grief so I can design additional programming around it. Everyone who has looked at what I'm offering has said it's a good idea. They wish such a thing was available when their child was struggling. The after school director has posted my program flyer. The woman I talked to from the dept of human resources (offering free membership to foster kids) even called it exciting.

All of which is to say I'm "working it." Rest assured it's not all blowing bubbles. :-D I'm seriously considering creating a booklovers newsletter that would help me infiltrate schools. I'm thinking of using one of the rooms of my office as a gallery space for high school students' art. I also have some ideas I may present for radio or public access television programming. These are all designed to get my business name out there, to create an opening to talk about what I'm offering. To create "buzz."

      Hi Jen,

Thanks for sharing your dream.

Visualization is a powerful tool for realizing your dreams, as long as it moves us to action.

Could I see your ad? I might be able to give you some ideas.

Also one of the first questions one should ask them selves when building a business is:

"What is my purpose?"

Questions you can ask to discover your purpose are:

What need does your client have?

What value are you going to bring them?

How will they be different after taking your course?

What is unique about you that makes your business stand out?

When you have reflect on these questions, try to create a one or two sentence "Purpose Statement"

Some examples

Avis - We Try Harder
FedEx - The World. On time.

When you know what your purpose is you can focus your energy on it, and then the students will start coming in.

To put it another way.
Your Purpose is the cause.
Students coming in is the effect.

Wishing you abundant success.

Rob

Aside from helping to support others in seeing abundance in the world, I would like this to be a forum for others to share their dreams so we can support each other in their fulfillment.
That being said I would appreciate if you could invite some friends to join us and realize their dream.

      Ok, I'm over it. ;-D

What helped? Balancing checkbooks today and telling myself it's okay to put things on the credit card for the next few months (not the big items I was talking about in the first post but little things that will make life easier or more pleasant) so I won't feel like I'm in a straight jacket.

Working out in the yard seems to have helped too. I got a lot done today in general (including putting away material for one of the backup plans) and a lot either completed or restarted in the yard with the help of my fiance. It has put me back in a place of feeling competent, capable, creative, powerful. I can do it, by golly, I CAN!

And all good things will come to me when the time is right. My abundance crisis was a crisis of faith. I need to go forward prudently but still go forward and trust that things will come into alignment in ways I can't forsee. I really do have a lot of unfinished home projects from my move last Dec that are getting completed these past couple of weeks. It has occurred to me that I need to finish these things to be ready for my next complex project.

And so . . . and old saying of mine: Onward to Folly!

(You might say some of us have to "fall" into place and trying to remain upright is counterproductive :-) )

I am trying to overcome a shrink-to-fit mentality in which I shrink my life to fit financial limits. I feel I'm coming along nicely but I found that today, looking as I was at vehicles and furniture, I was saying a lot of "I don't have enough money to buy that" or "If only I had the money, this would be perfect." Uhg! It really is a downer.

And then I slipped into what I think of as desperation thinking or contingency plans B, C, D, E, etc. I went out on a limb starting a learning center, leasing a space, and taking out a start up loan. I NEED it to start paying for itself fairly quickly because my day job doesn't bring in enough to carry it (see, there's the not enough again). Since I've only had one serious inquiry, I begin thinking that maybe I should be doing something else with the space (like starting a used bookstore--as though that would be easier to market ;-p). I am a problem-solver--sometimes a compulsive problem solver: I go into idea generation mode out of a sense of lack, coming up with a wealth of alternatives that aren't necessarily more likely to succeed. I've only begun to realize this about myself in recent years. Today I caught that my thinking in this vein was not productive but rather would diffuse my intention instead of focusing on making this one thing, the learning center, work. Still, it's hard to shift back to productive thinking and action. Any suggestions/guidance appreciated.

Like Jillian, I am starting a business, a learning center in my case, and my focus is on bringing in students to make it a success. This endeavor feels RIGHT yet a lack of response to ads is creating and I know worry is counterproductive to the abundant state of mind most conducive to manifesting the best for everyone involved.

When I am at the office/classroom ALONE, I engage in manifestation voodoo in two ways. I have bubbles available at the tables because I think they're great for a mental break and renewing one's spirit. So I've been using them myself, blowing bubbles and imagining that they represent students of all sizes flocking through the door or money being handed to me for an evening program.

The other thing I do is fill out a sign in sheet with randomly chosen names from the phone book. Believe it or not, this does give me something of a thrill, fooling myself into believing I've had a full evening. :)

I suppose my dream is to become a master of my circumstances. To become financially secure enough to see any doctor of my choosing and have a comfortable, fulfilling retirement. I've neglected financial abundance all of my adult life and have been trying to correct that the last few years with modest success. I was wiped out by illness a couple of years back and thus am starting over financially. So I'm very focused on creating material assets using my non-material assets.

Hello. My name is Jillian. Your group caught my attention because for some reason this past week was centered around a sense of accelerated awareness of positive manifestation and abundance. I am growing stronger daily in my understanding of god as energy and the fact that my potential here is unlimited. So with that said, I will share some of my dreams with you because it's feels so good to do so and because you asked.

Most importantly, i am an instrument of peace and love. Everything else falls into alignment after this. i am a designer and creator of Delicious Tees- a unique apparel line that expresses a message of unity, spirit and love. So, for me all of my goals today are centered around growing my business and spreading a message. The business, however, is just a catalyst for what I really feel a pull towards, which is service and world exploration. The earth is full of so many beautiful places and I dream daily about traveling the world. I believe I am here to simply express love to others through an artistic outlet. I am here to understand humanity and invite other cultures, perspectives and views into my experience.

I also want to collaborate with like minded individuals, whether through the arts community or social groups like this. I am working on starting an organization in Columbus for woman artists..a social network and support group whose purpose is to unite talented individuals.

I am focused on becoming the best person I can be so I can help bring other people into alignment with their passions.

I am very clear in my mind with what my dreams and goals are. I know that the thoughts have been planted and now I must focus on receiving these manifestations with gratitude.

Thanks for letting me share,

Peace and love,

Jillian

      Welcome.

I start this post with slight trepidation.

You want to get off to the right start.
You want to make sure that the words you right are so powerful that in an instant you will change the life of you readers for the better. So you sit and type and then erase and then retype, delete start over delete and then leave it for another day, and very often that day never comes.

I used to be like that, waiting for the right moment, always holding back, because if I didn't get it right the first time, then the opportunity would be lost forever. We are told that you never get a second chance to make a first impression, and because of that paradigm I thing we never even try to make the first impression in many things.

In a world of abundance there is no reason to hold yourself back from trying to grow, succeed and connect. There is abundant opportunity and resources. There is abundant support. There is abundant forgiveness. There is abundant LOVE.

On January 31, 2008, I wrote a post called
Live Your Best Life By Serving Others

The purpose of this post was to help 500 people get closer to their goals and dreams over the next year.
After a week about 45 people had signed up. I was waiting for perfection. I was determined to have 500 people sign up before I started. I waited and waited but the 500 goal lay far off. As a result of my waiting for that "right moment" that "only chance", the project has lain dormant for the past 8 months.

A seed is such a powerful example of abundance. Take a pomegranate seed and plant it. In time it will grow into a tree and produce hundreds of fruit and millions of seeds.

At the time I was not thinking abundantly. If I was I would have realized that even if I could have only helped one person, that person realizing their goals and dreams could eventually impact hundreds even thousands of other people.

By cultivating abundant thinking I see that the only way to live life is to be in the moment. To live your strengths. To be your purpose.

My purpose is to help others become their best self, to support them in achieving their dreams and goals. To Share. To Serve.

Peter Drucker had a rule;
When you are coaching to not start with your knowledge, start with your Ignorance.

The idea is that we should not presume to know what the needs are of the other person, or that we surely have the perfect solution for them.

You are creative, resourceful and whole.
You already know what you need.

Let's begin.

What Are YOUR Dreams?
