GREAT question. The kinds of things you mentioned would be appropriate in the same thread as the entry. In other words, go to the post that enters the thread in the Library, and click on Reply to Thread, and say your say !!!! Every kind of topic you mention would be extremely pertinent.

Thanks for clarifying that detail of procedure which I hadn't thought about.

Question about commenting, when I thread has been added to our 'library' and we wish to comment on it in an analytical way or more of an outside view on the thread, say its impact, importance, purpose, or want to create a discussion on it, but not really reply to anything in the pod, is this to be done in our thread here, or shall we create a new thread, with a title like "discussion on this topic about this thread".

Will delete this comment or move it after it's answered if you want so not to bloat the intro.

Definition of a thread:

Pod/Group Discussions: At least 3 posts, at least 2 people, preferably at least 3 people.

Blogs: A blog entry with at least 2 comments by at least 2 people, and the comments need to be of substance, real additions to the wisdom, just like a discussion group post.

Note that a discussion thread or blog+comments does not have to be "finished" before it is entered into this Library. As soon as they qualify for definition of a thread, they can be contributed/posted. Because we enter links, the entry is always "live." In fact, we encourage going back to threads you like, because many are still quite "live" long after being posted here.

Pods/Groups which qualify as sources of threads:

Any public Group/pod. However, please note we are looking for threads that
a) have general interest and value to the community, or people in general
or b) have a lot of collective wisdom about some spiritual subject
or c) contain a lot of collective wisdom about the Gaia Community and/or its site.
Highly abstract or highly specific content is not so suitable.

Remember if you like a thread, but it doesn't qualify here, and you want to call community attention to it, you can GaiaBookmark the opening post in it !!!!

Before you post from a Group/Pod Discussion:

It seems to me that we would not need to ask permission of the originating poster nor the Pod Cultivator, but I am open to PM discussion on this.

It seems polite and like a win-win if you post IN the thread you contribute that you are going to contribute it, or have done so, and invite folks to come here to this Group/Pod and comment on it.

Before you post from a Blog+comments:

As I have pondered the matter, I think we should probably ask permission from a blogger before entering/contributing their blog-plus-comments. I know some blogs are already entered here in this Group, and I will be creating a way to get permission for those. Strictly speaking, permission is not needed, but hey, we sure want the blogger to know they have contributed to Collective Wisdom.

So before you contribute a blog, I recommend you contact the blogger by mail and say what you plan and ask for an OK or objections AND if there are no objections, please make a comment to the blog saying you have contributed the thread to the Collective Wisdom Group, and give a link to the Group. That will be of benefit to lots of folks.

The procedure for posting/contributing/entering a thread:

1. Make a new post to the appropriate Board of Collective Wisdom: General, Spiritual, or Community.
Include
--pod/Group name,
--Board name,
--thread name,
--URL of or link or hyperlink to first post (or blog entry) in the thread, and
--make up some tags.
--Please say why you are contributing this thread, why you think it's so great.
--And as you enter a blog here please state you have the blogger's permission. Most of the time I am not going to double-check on this; it'll be an honor system.

2. If your Entry has content that is sensitive in some way, please mention that.

Please be aware that the "tags" in these posts are not "real tags." There is no tag list, no tag cloud, and the tags are not links. They are just descriptions of content.

If I think your entry isn't appropriate, I will contact you and we can discuss options.

How to affirm/comment on an existing entry:

Reply to Thread of the post about the thread you wish to affirm or comment on. You can wax eloquent, or just say "I believe there is indeed collective wisdom here!" Feel free to add more tags, or suggest modifying or deleting previously given tags.

If you have a negative comment on any entry, please make it brief and to the point, and make sure it abides by the Community Guidelines and Terms of Use, such as being respectful. Most of the time you'll just find that particular wisdom is just not relevant for you, but if you have some other comment about the thread itself, do share it. Remember you are not interacting the with content of the thread itself here.

You can email the Cultivator if you have an objection to a thread's being in the Library.

Things you need to know:

PLEASE REMEMBER you can affirm or comment on as many threads as you like.

PL;EASE NOTE that while it's great if a thread gets a lot of positive comments, a thread that has fewer or none might be just as useful or valuable to some folks, but maybe it just hasn't had the number of readers and commenters yet. The numbers are not related to potential value TO YOU.

PLEASE DON'T DISCUSS THE ACTUAL TOPICS HERE. Posts here are ABOUT THREADS themselves as Collective Wisdom examples, not about the content of the threads. Feel feel to contribute directly to those. If you have something to say within the subject of a thread, please post to the thread itself; your thoughts will get more appropriate visibility there.

Also, in the interest of keeping this Library easy to use, please don't get into much dialogue with other posters here, unless it's relevant to the Library. I know that makes this very different from pods/groups that love and encourage dialogue. Let's not make Library users wade through a lot of stuff not really contributory to their Search for Collective Wisdom !!!!! Thanks for your cooperation on this.
