Collective Wisdom: The Library of Community Threads

Buried treasure. Wasted wisdom. Have you ever read a thread on Gaia Community and wished it could be turned into a book or article and shared with the world, because so much wisdom was represented and presented there?

This pod/Group calls attention to, and honors, and shares, these threads. This pod/Group is a library (more than...(more)

reconsidering change by Jake

Contributed Blog:  reconsidering change Posted on Dec 27th, 2007 by Jake : unquiet Jake

http://jake.zaadz.com/blog/2007/12/reconsidering_change

Reason : Considering that Zaadz's philosophy is “Let's Change the World“this blog, by one of the team members, is remarkable in many ways. I feel it is still to be watched, but is a stand-alone with or without comments.

[Note: this post was edited on December 30]

Hi Meenakshi, I have only skimmed this, and it surely is remarkable.

Technically, it doesn't qualify (YET) [as of Dec. 30, it DOES] for contribution as a “thread” because:
Blogs: A blog entry with at least 2 comments (at least one each by at least 2 people,) and the comments need to be of substance, real additions to the wisdom, just like a pod post.

“Yeah, I think it's great” comments don't count as “of substance.” But I feel like letting the entry stand, partly because this is a team member, partly because it is something that enough people are resonating with that it DOES represent “collective wisdom,” and partly because over the next few days, comments “of substance” will undoubtedly appear. [As of Dec. 30, my prediction has materialized!!! :) ]

“Of substance” would mean additional thoughts, or elaborations, whether they are agreements or disagreements.  This is not to diminish in any way the comments that amount to YESSSSS!!!!! They are waycool and significant!!!!!! I just set up a definition and would rather make an exception than make the definition more complicated. [As of Dec. 30, no exception is needed.]

So, thanks for calling this to the attention of this pod so promptly!!!!!! We are enriched thereby!!!

Blessings, OM Bastet

OM, I wondered about the comments of substance too; as I re-read your instructions; and still posted this thread; so I'm glad you are going to let it stand.

Oh interesting. I was just coming here to add Jake's blog. And now seeing that yes of course it is a blog and therefore can get seeds so therefore sits outside the mandate of this pod! Well lets see what happens. Maybe we can also have a section for truly great blogs, so people can go and seed them. I'm personally not seeing 'quality' particularly reflected on the what's hot page, or is this just me? And perhaps we have to wait for the seed system to fully start working.

Love,
Sandra

I saw your post about that, Sandra; and realized I should've mentioned there, as you and OM have done, that I had posted it here. The blogster needs to know, too! Thanks for doing that, anyway!

Hello Sandra! See my post of Dec. 28 just above: I do not consider blogs as sitting outside the mandate of this pod; I specifically included them, as described above. Hadn't thought about the fact that they CAN get seeds and how that relates to this pod. Now that I do consider the matter, I say it's the THREAD aspect that we focus on here; a blog plus two substantial comments (at least one each from two different people.) That entity, the thread, is not eligible for seeds, and a blog alone is not eligible for this pod. So I think there is no overlap between the pod and the seed system.

None of which addresses your point of
Maybe we can also have a section for truly great blogs, so people can go and seed them.

My way would be to contribute a comment of substance to a great blog, and encourage someone else to do the same, and then enter it here! Right now, I see the need for the function you describe (and for posts too) and the seed system itself is designed to call such attention, but right now, I agree, there is nothing truly operating to call people's attention to super-duper “wise” blogs or posts.

Blessings abounding in 2008,
OM Bastet

I add kudos #3 for this astounding piece of wisdom for which I am so grateful. Am still formulating a comment to post there.

I for one just love Jake 's blog, and not just some of it but all of it. I think we can all learn, I'm talking about this group here and any anybody else that resonates with Jake's post. If we can take the post and each of us share just exactly what and how it resonates with us. Jake did mention something about forgiveness, for example we can take turns sharing how this resonates with us or if it does not then share that, I think this is a way we can help other's to understand more and for us to understand more. I know there are not many here that is interested in forgiveness and that is only because one does not understand it. We don't have to start with forgiveness, I just use forgiveness for an example but some day we must get around to it. But who ever will start, can start it with what they want to. Just my two cents, what do you think ?
Your friend,Don

UPDATE: This discussion is taking place at http://pods.gaia.com/myheart, the 4-give-nes Group.

Hi Don, you know, that sounds like a super idea, to have a detailed discussion about the ideas in Jake's blog. I'd like to take part in that.

I would prefer we not do it in this pod, as I'd like to keep this as a library, with a few comments here and there ABOUT a thread, but not posts of original ideas, new ideas, here.

I'd like to suggest we could have this discussion in a blog you launch, or we could start a thread somewhere in Zaadz Lounge, which is the best pod I can think of that would be a good host, though we might do it in Gaia Community pod.

In your blog or first post, you could provide a link to Jake's blog. then copy and paste what you just wrote above, slightly edited of course, and start us off with some thoughts. We could post a link here in this thread directing people to that discussion.

There might be other ways or places to launch that discussion; I'm open to ideas. We might of course, do it via comments to his blog, which is maybe the most logical place, but I think we should get his permission first, if we go that route, because there could end up being dozens of comments, and he might not want that.

What do you think?  Blessings, OM Bastet
