This is an experimental pod concerning communication.

This pod concerns itself primarily with the communication we use in everyday life –looking at it so that we might better understand it and utilise the ways in which we interact with each other, in order to create harmony at home,...(more)

WATER...ANY TIPS?

I like artisean water. What are good things to know about water? I drink about 4 glasses a day and have water from my fruits and veggies but I would love to talk about how others do their water intake. Any tips?

Water is the great purifier.  Among all the the recognized uses of water for the body (perspiration, waste, blood - tears!) water is also in lymph, a fluid that is the key ingredient to the immune system, and one of the first fluids to get the ax during dehydration.

How much?  Goodness.  Your water needs depend on many factors, including your health, how active you are and where you live.  The Institute of Medicine attempted a recommendation for minimum water intake per day, and advises that men consume roughly 3.0 liters (about 13 cups) of total beverages a day and women consume 2.2 liters (about 9 cups) of total beverages a day.

Yet this is quite flexible.  For example, I generally consume over two liters during my daily 1-2 hour workout routine alone.  I am also an avid outdoorsman, and will suck my hydration system dry on a two hour hike, replinish the supply, and keep on “being one” with our great planet.  The important pieces to remember are 1) when you are thirsty, your body is already 5 pints too low and 2) there is such a thing as too much water “water poisoning,” which is easily offset by mineral intake (or simply using something like a sport drink mix).

Ironic!

The selection of a desert bush for my icon today is completely coincidental to this water discussion. :)

I refill a water bottle with filtered water from the sink . . and sip it through the night as I get thirsty-
Especially after Emmet wakes up and begins to nurse . . then I sip for every sip he has(:
It's nice to have water by my pillow.

Just thought I would add in some interesting facts ,the suface of the planet is covered with 75 % water ,our body's are made up of about 75 % water ,so wouldnt it seem logical to continue the equation and say that what we consume daily should contain 75 % water ,fruits, veggies ,and 2 litres of water a day ..

 Namaste..

Of course, you could also just drink when thirsty…

In hot weather and with all the physical training I do I can easily drink 3-4 liters of plain water daily.

I also drink A LOT of herb tea or just hot boiling water. Try to put in a lemon or cucumber slice in your water for a change. It's good!

Halinagold,

That is what most folks believe…

“1) when you are thirsty, your body is already 5 pints too low”

Thirst is like an “oil low” idiot light in a fossil fuel, carbon-spewing vehicle.  When thirst turns on, there's already problems afoot - and nature saying “hey, silly water-based organism, this is a reminder you need - ta da! - water!”

WATER…My favorite subject and element…

I have some ideas worth looking into…

1. Masaru Emoto's Trilogy of “The Hidden Messages of Water”. He's awesome and it makes sense!!! Water has Memory!!!   Read the Basics of Emoto's Work

2. Color Therapy for your water (placing your water in colored glasses to get the full spectrum of color. Yummy.  Making Solarized Water

3. Flower Essences (a few drops will do you good). Some sites will show you how to make your own, which is great if you have flowers growing around where you live. A wonderful process to connect you with your water.  What are Flower Essences

I hope my links work, it's only my 2nd time doing it.

Water is the Best Thing Ever!!!  Happy Reading!

Warm Regards,

“Of course, you could also just drink when thirsty…”

What I was really implying is that you can make anything a problem and then create a hundred different answers (scientific, spiritual, cultural etc. etc.) and then discuss which one is the right one and why and that by itself can be very, very enjoyable…

or you can live moment by moment and trust your instinct/intuition/feeling… drink when you're thirsty… which I enjoy more than anything else…

And since this Pod is about Communication you might say:
Hey what kind of communication is that? Someone asks a serious question about water and then someone else comes along and takes it to a different place…

Ha ha, Halina… :)

Honestly, you mirrored my thoughts exactly. I find most paradigms involving the conscious habituation of completely natural behaviours slightly odd- and usually unfounded in actually good soil of ratiocination. Such as bringing my consciousness to how much water I drink, how often I poopie, how much do I excersize… etc.

BUT! (I catch myself, now…) I suddenly notice that most of the unhealthy mental behaviours which I endeavor to change (such as getting mad inappropriately or shooting my mouth off in public causing unnecessarily hurt feelings) are changed through that very process of conscious habituation…

This is very interesting, no? It reminds me of the two main philosophies of morality: in one (the catholic, the muslim and the stoic), a person trying to improve themselves are presented with the dichotomy of some facet of their reality. In this method, the dichotomy is resolved by one winning over the other. Good triumphs over and vanquishes evil. In this philosophy we are told to root out and destroy the evil parts of ourselves.

The other method (the sufi, the hermetic and the mystical), a person faces the same dichotomy but rather than eliminating one or the other, transcends them with a new value which replaces both. In communication, this has bearing. Two people have to deal with one another. They have different perspectives. They go to make a decision together (perhaps they are husband and wife?) but they cannot agree. How to decide? It is similar… either one vanquishes and controls the other- OR they find a transcendant value that embraces both perspectives and allows a decision to be made.

Oh yeah… we’re talking about water! I forgot!

Yes, Axiom, great points and I agree, we should stick to the topic! (water, naturally):

TO THIRST OR TO TRUST, THAT'S THE QUESTION!
