Hey all of you

hopefully you do not feel spammed but somehow i had the feeling this would fit in here

we are a group of around 10 young people doin a project called "skillsurfers"
we will be travellin round in our 3 busses this winter and spring in france, spain and portugal
to exchange ideas and experiences and discuss with different people about a better world ;-)

our main topics will be
education networks, fairtrade and solidarity economy, lohas, open source and other... (see our profile)

we thought using the internet and cool social networks would be a good chance to meet interesting people from these countries who might be interested in our tour and help us on our way
- so here we are on gaia :-)

everything in the world is beautiful, this is what i believe.
through all that we do we communicate what we hold as most beautiful, especially when one delves into and produces something coming forth from the creative side of oneself, like a painting or a poem or a story..etc etc
everything communicates to everyone, and spiritual communication can be recognized easiest through body language or photos or the written word
i know that no one's replied to this thread in awhile, but i just wanted to add my small opinion on the topic :)

I have only mastered English but being a part of that pod has opened doors around the world. The cool thing is that one can write something in English and with Google Translator, no matter what you say, it can translate freely.

I just wanted to back this group up as I have had to use them when making friends from other parts of the world.

For example: The comment I just mentioned in English--now in Spanish:

{El multi-lingual grupo es divertido, ya que estamos todos los que comparten esta isla mundial.

Hi Great Gaians, guys & gals. I am a relatively new ambassador here on Gaia and thrilled to be here and I would like to publicise the existance of my new pod for people to communicate in languages other than English, I believe that language can be a barrier and would hate to think that people would feel excluded from this wonderful and inspiring community, just because they don't write or speak English, the pod is called multilingual, please publisise it and let's get Gaia global in many new ways http://gaia.com. pods.multilingual, not sure I got the address right, I'm not as able as I should be blessings and find it by searching through groups please, Mike

I am amazed - floored is one posibility - gaia and the groups enjoy great communications.
I do believe communicating in all forms is the most important activity we undertake in our present form.
I wish I knew of other conciousness' and realiztions of being. I am here and this is what I have to fathom - which is often more that I can take in.

This weekend workshop will explore economy in poetry, and the art of “show, don’t tell,” giving the reader or audience our thoughts through imagery.

Join us in Heathcote Community’s historic mill for a weekend of reading, writing, playing and performing. Bring your old favorites and works in progress for our critique sessions!

Join us for two days of experiential intensive, with critique sessions, writing periods and visceral workshops on finding fresh images, economy of language, show/don’t tell, writing from instinct and rewriting with detachment.

This weekend is for any writer who wants to take her/his poetry to the next level, especially for publication or performance. Who is your audience? What are your goals--Are you trying to communicate specific ideas or hone poetic craft? Do you get quagmired in or avoid rewrites? Come to the woods and dance poetically outside of your comfort zone!

I minimize lectures and work more as facilitator. Poetry is like film--There are endless genres and audiences. Your own approach is not wrong. But let me take you on a challenging ride to the unexpected image that guards the core of your poem!

Rustic, communal lodging for participants will be provided in the workshop space. Bring your own bedding. Meals are vegan/vegetarian and organic, provided in Heathcote Community’s popular kitchen and dining room.

Registration will be limited to 10 participants.

About the Facilitator:

    Wren is Artist-in-Residence at Heathcote Center. Her poems have appeared in The Baltimore Review, Digges’ Choice, The Baltimore Women’s TImes, The Green Revolution and the anthology Blood and Tears. She received a Young Authors Award in Poetry from The Courier Journal. She is a founding member of Baltimore’s Sunday Salon critique group. She wrote a stage play from her poetry, This Is How She Steps on Snakes, which she performed in Baltimore and at Towson University. The journal Grub Street awarded her first prize for slam poetry.
    Wren Tuatha is principally a screenwriter, under the banner Curio Coast Productions. She wrote the feature scripts Bacca Blooms, Strands of Emily, This Is How She Steps on Snakes and My Second Simone. She is currently developing feature film scripts for collaboration with Rattle the Cage and others. She studied poetry, as well as Electronic Media and Film at Towson University and education at the University of Louisville. Her short films, “Totems of a Road-Colored Goat” and “Sparrow, Like Everyone,” are poem treatments.

Where I live is a centre of things such as those you mention. It is here that composting toilets [Domus] and the latest HUGE invention has been developed. This latter is Biolytix and I suggest that anyone interested in sustainable building and living checks it out on the Web.

Heathcote Community Openings

Just wanted to post and let folks know that Heathcote, the intentional community where I live, has several openings. Much of the deepest work we do daily, at weekly meetings and in our retreats, is communication. We've recently added Imago, Zegg Forum and Non-Violent Communication to our toolboxes.

We offer lots of education to the larger community on these topics and permaculture and sustainability, homeschooling, etc.

We're on 110 wooded acres near Baltimore, Maryland and are just finishing our strawbale grouphouse. If you or anyone you know is ready to work on these issues residentially, check us out:

Hello Alexis,
The internal dialogue that goes on within is between our Spirit Self and our, as I have defined it, Soul.
Alternative terms are:
Spirit Self = Superconscious, conscience, God-self, higher self, the god within etc.
Soul = Subconscious, something created by God? Something between God and human? The God-self? et cetera or, as I see it, the sum total of one's experiences over many lifetimes - the same as the "Mind".

Internal Dialogue

I would like to participate in some discussion on self-talk and how we communicate with ourselves. The health (or lack thereof) in our internal dialoge has the greatest affect on how we communicate with the outside world and how we recognize and fulfill our needs in life.

Any feedback on consideration to this aspect of growth in the pod would be greatly appreciated.

Without any ill will but on the subject of communication:

This can mean 1. " . . . . .but also studying two for two bachelor degrees, . . . ." [as written.]
2. " . . . . .but also studying too for two bachelor degrees, . . . ."
3. " . . . . .but also studying for two bachelor degrees, . . . ."

1. Is obviously a typing error and lacks clarity of communication..
2. Is tautology and, therefore, incorrect.
3. Leaves the reader in no doubt as to what the writer means - hence, clear communication!

I have always been interested in the nature of communication, and with the internet, and having time and space biases no longer exist in a medium, we sit at the cusp of a potential revolution. Cultural Collectanea is fabulous. It is the place for anthropology, archaeology, physical/forensic anthropology and general social science 'bric-a-brac' discussion here on Zaadz. The great thing about anthropology, and the Cultural Collectanea pod- it can be just about anything related to the human species. You do not have to be a student or even have a degree in any or either of the subjects at hand. Contributions can be book reviews, news articles, observations, musings, whatever! The only rule we have there is to respect the thoughts, feelings, and opinions of others. We all have humanity in common, so there's always something to talk about.

WELCOME!
Yes, communication should be much simpler but, unfortunately, too many of us do not apply ourselves to achieving this goal. For instance how many give more importance to how their writing will be read and interpreted than the need to say something? Incorrect spelling and grammar often distort meaning yet how many of us use spell-check and/or grammar-check? If we really wish to communicate clearly do we not have to put in the effort and, dare I say it, the time, to go for quality?
