So I was reading through all the posts on this discussion and I realized whoa! These are a over a year old..

What happened here? I know all these people didn't just disappear. I want to hear what happened with all these organizations. What happened to Daniel and his Jesus Collective? How was Aiyana's trip to Cambodia? I'm interested.

On the introduction everyone was excited because they said they couldn't find any other discussions like this one. This is a place for everyone to share there missionary works and experiences. I want to hear more.

Hi! I'm also a senior in high school like Michelle. I just wanted to introduce myself and say that i respect everyone here for trying to do something to better the world. I will be right with you guys one day- changing the world, going on mission trips, and just doing what I can to better the community (as soon as I get out of high school). I can't wait =) I just don't even know where to start.

For us it would be driven by the city and neighborhood that we live in. Richmond(and our neighborhood, Church Hill) has had a lot of race issues and tensions, so one of our focuses needs to be racial reconciliation. The other focuses(besides the obvious things like discipleship) would be things like nonviolence, health and sustainability/environment. These are the things that I think God is speaking to this city right now.

How it would play itself out is less firm. We(my wife and I) have some authority issues, so things will likely be very egalitarian and not try to grow very large. I'm thinking a group of say max 20 people and helping to start other groups instead of growing larger if there is more interest. The term I've been tossing around for it is a Jesus Collective.

We are somewhat connected with a couple missional communities here and have tossed around the idea of starting one in our neighborhood. We'll see where that talk goes, but I found this pod, got excited that it existed and wanted to introduce myself.

Hello, My name is Marie and I am a Zaadz newby. I will agree with Aiyana and state that I love Zaadz and being in an online communityt that is encouraging us to live to the fullest. however, I am so happy and thrilled to find Jesus' followers here! I am in graduate school - Social Work and also have a MA in Theology. I love my profession and believe that Christ was the ultimate social worker, in that He addresses and meets all the needs of those He comes in contact with - emotional, physical, mental, spiritual, etc... Anyone got family here? Mine just grew by one this past week. I tried to come up with a name that i felt was biblical, but not really in the bible if you know what I mean. Here's my blog on it.

Introducing… STELLAR VOXANNA WONG

On November 30^th 2006, Stellar was born at six pounds and eight ounces to two incredibly ecstatic parents!

For those of you who are wondering, Stellar means that which pertains to the stars, or to be star-like.

When we say our daughter’s name it is loaded with significance. For us, Stellar means…

…the radiant lights that illuminate the skies even from a distance

…being completely human, with sunspots and solar flares

…the everlasting stars that humbly and faithfully shine even when no one is looking

…the timeless and brilliant arrangement of lights that navigate people home

…the light of God that punctures holes through the darkness of the night

Voxanna is a combination of words. Vox which means a voice or expression, and Anna which means a woman full of grace.

We are filled with so much love and hope for Stellar Voxanna. She is nothing short of a miraculous gift from God.

We thank every one of you for your love, encouragement, and prayers.

I think you're absolutely right. There shouldn't be a difference. Every single follower of Christ is called to do as he does and impact the world.

I think sometimes we create a dichotomy in the language, in a way to excuse ourselves from what we're suppose to be doing. We call people missionaries as if it was some type of higher calling, because otherwise, what would the rest of us be? Every single follower of Christ is called to be on mission. Too many of us don't want to lift a finger, and still want to be called Christians.

At least that's what I think. Quite the avatar you got there peculiar1!

I don't believe there should be a difference between the two because the bible tells us as believers to help others. There are those in ministry who focus particularly on the mission field, but there should still be no difference. We should all, in some way, do our part whether it be giving finances to help, praying for those in need, or physically going where the need is to lend a hand. There's always something we can do. It doesn't have to be a third world country. There are many things we could do right in our own communities. Of course, I don't have any problem with helping those in third world countries living in extreme poverty, I'm only saying not to neglect what's right in our faces, you know.

Hey Aiyana,

You're most welcome here. I'm new on Zaadz as well, I just started this to see if there were any other like-minded, like-hearted people. Didn't seem to be any other groups quite like it yet.
I'm part of a faith community right now, and looking to start one once i'm out of school in another year or so. I hear the failure rates are high with these types of endeavors, so can always use all the prayer/insight/preparation i can get!
