You probably know everything that the following video relates, but it's a very good way of conveying the problem of debt based finance and issues such as the fractional reserve and the need for barter currencies.

Together with Chris Cook and his Open Capital network I've described in another post, I've been exploring the applications of barter economies and  guarantee  societies under  asset based systems.  On the Omidyar network we've also become acquainted with a French advocate of B2B barter and his ideas on the barter engine which will be capable of  delivering the optimum  exchange for  multiple  links exchanges.
