A variety of Conscious approaches

Jeff.Mowatt [no longer around] said Jun 23, 2007, 1:14 PM:

At Susmita's suggestion, my response  in a dialogue  about  current deployments of conscious capitalism.

i) Community currency systems:

Barter sofrware will be found with their promotional slides here

http://www.barter-software.com/en/home/index.aspx

And a working example at

http://www.ozone.net.nz/xob2b07/Home3/Login.aspx

ii)  Islamic compliant finance:

Open capital  is based on a  new(ish) legal form in the UK called an LLP which is not the same as a US LLP. It allows a group of people to collaborate in investment with liability protection and share in the reward in money or money's worth of production. Open capital promotes non usurous capital rental which complies wth Islamic law. One example is a charity investing in wind electricity production  in Pakistan who waive their share of reward to empower local people with a means of power and income. It can be applied to a community function such as a medical practice and in housing under a community land partnership which is one of the tools the UN back Global Land Tools project is using in a Kenyan pilot to measure land value. This group are advocates of Henry George philosphy.

iii) The social busness approach to international development

This is P-CED over the last decade, leveraging government funds  for microeconomic development to return  the  fund as well as the social purpose.

By full cost recovery I mean targeted microeconomic development for which an example can be provided in Tomsk Russia, where $10m invested created 14000 loans to new SMEs without collateral and spun off 30+ social projects leaving the bank behind and returning to $10m over 5 years.

For a Marshall plan I'm talking about a national scale social investment, in this case Ukraine where we're advocating the elimination of institutional childcare over 7 years supported by pro-poor business and microfinance such that all investment is again returned as with the Tomsk pilot and the government spending on childcare is reduced.

Both the above will be found on our website at http://www.p-ced.com ;

Re: A variety of Conscious approaches - Going Local

Watch this Youtube video interview of Michael Shuman author of  Going Local and Small-Mart Revolution. I bought his book after listening him speak here in my town Lexington, KY about a year ago. He has some brilliant ideas and data to support them.

The peak moment : SMALL MART REVOLUTION

This youtube video by Michael is very persuasive about benefits of going local, especially the idea of localizing ownership through channelling pension funds in local stock exchange - this is where Balle needs to focus. Yet what is to be done with centralized commercial global bankasaurs and our debt-based usury based money system that is piling porks in favor of global corporations, TINA, Oil, shock doctrine, war economy, divide and rule and such. Be kind to the chickens, not to homeland security. Goliath is not the government but those who control the medium of exchange itself.

So Go local plus go for deep conscious capitalism!
