Cook it. Go.

The corporatizing of food and water supplies is driving prices of basic necessities through the roof. Whatever! I want to do something about it!

Here's what on my list:

Hit the farmers markets and see what's out there cheap.
Learn about canning (again).
Figure out how to grow my own herbs while living in the middle...(more)

Today's List: Foods to Have on Hand

Grower [no longer around] said Nov 20, 2006, 9:34 AM:

In my continuing belief this pod could take off I hereby post a list of some of the versatile foods I like to keep on hand that don't take up space in the refrigerator or freezer:

Canned Tomatoes – whole, crushed, diced, different size cans
Canned Beans – black, pinto
Polenta
Rice – basmati, brown, sushi,  all kinds!
Squash – especially this time of year
Potatoes
Onions
Shallots
Bulgur
Pastas – variety of shapes and sizes

I'm sure there are more, but these must be my favorites since they were the first ones to come to mind.
