Thanks for the lovely compliment, SunshineSkye, and to you both for the warm welcome.

Some months ago, I was led by Spirit to perform a certain Native ceremony for myself. The outcome was unexpected and enlightening. I made Spirit a promise, for It had shown me how essential balancing my "nurturing mother" with my "rainbow woman" was. I have tried to make time for creative pursuits since then, but really, it's only been in the last few months that I've really taken a big dive in. Lol, I'm creatively obsessed!

Please feel free to check out the above link again even if you've already visited it, as I add new work frequently. Lately I've really been experimenting with different techniques in photography and digital art (how can you learn if you don't try after all?) and have added some new writing as well..

Warm Hugs,
Mercale

      Hi all!

I'm Mercale (aka Tanya). I love to write, paint, sketch, photograph, sing and sculpt.

No claims as to my *impressive skill* (grin) but I do enjoy the oppertunity to be creative!

You can check out some photos, a few paintings (simple folk-style with the emphasis more on message) and a little bit of my writing here if you're interested. If not, that's ok too! I look forward to sharing and being inspired.

humbly,
Mercale

      Hello All

Since
participating here I thought it might be interesting to write about my
experience as a composer and musician and discuss the ups and downs of
trying to put it all together into a CD.

My wife actually
suggested the idea a while back but I could not imagine anyone actually
being interested. But since I posted a request for feed back in the Artist's Dream Group and got wonderful feedback I have decided to try
it. I invite you all to read my first posting either here on Gaia or on
keyofgmusic.wordpress.com and subscribe if you like.

I may even twitter it

G

I have a technology that asks artists to share their work interactively with audiences. The art is catalyst for group interaction. Information about community resources is shared, and invitations to meet and mingle after the "formal" informal presentations has netted people new friends, purchasers of their art, and forged a nonprofit when my work peaked.

The technology is easy for someone good at producting community events, and the rewards are many (including economic and social networking)... with LIVE HUMANS!

http://creativity.net/vmi.html

and click on sample program for more details.

peter

      Hi, everyone

I'm a writer and nature photographer. I'm new to social networking, and was enticed into looking at it as a marketing tool for my latest book The Science of Oneness (see my profile for more info). I've been doing a lot of exploring in the last couple of weeks, trying to sort out how to make it work for me in other ways too. I'd like to share a few thoughts and get your feedback and further ideas.

MySpace: I don't feel at home at all. Searching for like-minded people seems to be like looking for a needle in a haystack. And extensive searching hasn't revealed any groups that I feel drawn to join. The purposes and values of MySpace aren't what I want. The strength of MySpace is sheer numbers, although my impression is that there are far fewer genuine members than the claimed 160m. Nevertheless, there must be good potential connections out there if only I can find them.

By contrast, Zaadz is a very small pond with under 50,000 members. But we're all here because we want to change the world in some way. I feel at home. I'm finding friends quite easily. There are some Pods I'm quite drawn to joining. There's an enthusiastic, friendly and very helpful support team. So all in all, I feel like concentrating on Zaadz and letting MySpace lapse.

The next issue is what social networking can do for me. Frankly, I doubt if the effort required to use it as a marketing tool would be repaid in book sales and royalties. But on the other hand it might be another way to get my message out - whatever that message is.

I have lots of ideas buzzing through my head, and lots of draft bits and pieces for the next book or three. My main challenge is to narrow the focus sufficiently that I'm not trying to write about everything at once. I'm thinking of starting a blog on Zaadz to enable me to put out draft ideas on lots of topics and get feedback to help me refine ideas, themes, presentation. The 3 types of entry on Zaadz (personal blog, article and poem) are very helpful for this. And the ability to put tags on entries makes it quite easy for both me and readers to find writings on particular topics. Edited and linked collections could form a book in the long run. Do you think this would work? Would Zaadsters engage with this co-writing process?

The main issue that I can see is how to bring such a blog to the attention of people and (hopefully) attract a worthwhile number of subscribers. Advertising within the Zaadz pool would be possible by joining relevant groups/pods and posting abstracts, adverts, whatever, from time to time. Would this be ok? It would be possible to move gently outside this pool by adding the blog to my email signature, and encouraging my real-world as well as virtual friends to spread the word. I could possibly similarly advertise through MySpace in some way?? Any other ideas?

I did think about starting a group on MySpace or Zaadz rather than (or as well as) a blog. But there are so many groups already ... And groups seem to ramble all over the place, and seldom retain a focus on the core intent of the people who start them. It may be possible for the moderator to exert more dictatorial control, I don't know, but that feels like a lot of work compared to a blog.

I'd really welcome feedback and ideas from those of you who are more experienced in social networking. Are there other ways to use it as a creative writing tool, for marketing, for spreading important messages?

Thanks for any assistance

Malcolm
