  Pierre : Being

Second Hand - Pierre Schnehage (reposting for comment...)

Pierre said May 19, 2007, 2:44 PM:

In the time of the great hunger

in the absence of her smile

visions of togetherness

a haunting inner cry

a boy but for a while

In the time of the pursuing

of the all illusive prize

the boy still goes unnoticed

the love of God denied

he scans the weary skies

It is time that does a dance

then, and now, and still to come

through the preaching and the teaching

and the reaching for the gun

the boys forgotten who he is

From the first, a burst of gushing life

the breathless race to fertile ground

a pregnant silence in the water

secret codes and moral odes

soon in history does unfold

The tide has turned, the moon now full and bright

a seascape in the lunar light

she whips the mighty water up

the cresting waves a-thunder

a legacy torn assunder

It is time that has it's rhythm, in the beating of my heart

and as the seasons come and go, curls of copper turn to grey

and death will come what may

the spirit yet is ageless, the soul now just remembered

the dance has just begun, to be continued…

in the galaxy.

hi Pierre,

you reposted? got overlooked in the traffic first time, I suppose?
great you sent it again!

when the pod started, I didn't read most of the poetry, because I wasn't into it much.
this pod has changed that a lot, and I'm glad to get the opportunity to comment
on your poem now.

the opening vers is incredible. I'm right there.

the emotional impact created by great hunger and
the absence of her smile pull me in right from the start.
beautifully intense.

and powerful wording, very touching. I'm touched in that
place of longing and loss and am right there with the 'boy'.

I very much like that there is a rhythm of rhymes in your poem.

the compressed form of an almost traditional poem
and the powerful wording hold my attention.

the overall impression is of intensity, strong pictures
and a capacity to combine words in unusual ways
that work beautifully. like

the breathless race to fertile ground

a pregnant silence in the water

or   curls of copper turn to grey

secret codes and moral odes

soon in history does unfold

I'm thrilled and very much looking forward to hearing more from you!

with love,
Gabriele

Hi - Thanks! It's great to get feedback like that…  I'm a bit in the closet in terms of poetry. I churn out reams of meaningless advertising copy and this is frankly a loosining of the tourniquet…

Sorry… I gave you the wrong impresssion. I reposted it from my blog…

Now I just have to find where Poet's Corner is… I found this with a search engine…
