About a year ago, I posted a link on the Resources for Writing Board for a website called Emotional Fractals. I have used in the past for exploring and connecting with the present moment (whatever one I happen to be in). Sometimes I have gone to the website with nothing in mind, and waited to see what came up. Sometimes I have gone with a specific question in mind like: ‘what do I need to know today’ or ‘what do I need to learn today’. It doesn't really matter - in my experience, there have been some interesting coincidences that come up through the emotional fractals.
It has been quite awhile since I last went to the site (almost a year in fact) but for the past couple of days it has been in my mind a lot. I thought it would be a nice exercise for us to use to explore our emotions (and how they often reflect the spiritual state we are in (in any given moment).
Go to the site: http://www.levitated.net/daily/levEmotionFractal.html and allow the emotional fractal to rise up for yourself. Some words will be very prominent, some will be less so. Once the fractal is completed, if you would like to save your fractal, you can follow these steps:
1. use the function key (fn) on your keyboard and 2. the print screen key (prt sc) to copy the screenshot to a drawing program (like paint). 3. Paste it to a new file, crop it if you like 4. then save it as a jpeg file to look at/ refer to later.
Or just write down the words that grab you from it on a piece of paper. Whatever works for you!
The writing exercise is this: whatever words come up for you, sit with them for several minutes before starting to write. Roll them over in your mind, savour them, then, when you feel 'ready', start to write for 20 minutes.
Don’t edit, don’t hold back, just write whatever needs to come out, whatever those words from the Emotional Fractal prompt. If you want to write longer than 20 minutes, go for it. Write until you are finished writing.
Post your writing on the Writing as Spiritual Practise Board here:
