Anonymous assignment: speaking out

Sandra said Jun 28, 9:00 AM:

Anonymous assignment

Imagine that your right to publicly speak your mind has been stripped away.  You are no longer allowed to openly discuss or have an opinion about any current situation or event in your personal life or in your community/country.

You can however write an anonymous note that can be given to someone who will get the word out.

What would you say? What would you want tell the world?

What fears, hopes, dreams, thoughts, opinions, or concerns would you write about?

What is the main issue for you right now?

What is waiting to be said? Who would be reading it?

Sit for a few minutes and let things percolate before writing. Write whatever comes up, no editing. Dive right in, and go fearward. Write for 20 minutes or for as long as it takes to say what you need to say.

Send your anonymous piece to Sandra (or one of the moderators)  to post on the Responses to Assignments board for you. The piece will obviously not be anonymous to the moderator who posts it for you, but your name will not be on the piece.

You might want to read the original instructions to the anonymous topic assignment if you wish to do this one.

COMMENTING:
with this assignment  (as with all work posted on Diving Deeper ) it is important that all comments be about the piece, - the writing - how it affects you, what it is about the writing that works for you etc; not to whoever you think or imagine is the 'author' of the piece.

With much thanks to Leigh-Anne for this assignment.

Note: As the assignment has a kind of 'form' -  it's possible to do it from the 'head' - i.e. to think one's way through it. I'd suggest you don't necessarily think of it as a letter, rather an opportunity to share something so deep that you might not even be in touch with it when you start… and also to follow the Diving Deeper approach of really climbing into whatever 'world' you find yourself in – give all the details, go fearward, and, of course, don't edit as you go along. If you find yourself 'thinking' what to write as you are writing, stop, breathe, feel with your whole body, all your senses, use these to share what it is that wants to be shared.

Allow that as you write something might shift, perhaps what you thought you wanted to share with the world when you started changes, perhaps something deeper arises. For this to happen you have to 'let go' as you write, and feel as deeply into the 'character' of whoever is writing. It may not be you, you may find yourself writing with the voice of someone/something totally different to you, perhaps you discover yourself giving voice to something you thought you had no particular energy for, but as you write, there it is.

Go slow, breathe, let what wants to happen happen.

So… once again, don't 'direct traffic' :-)

Those who have already responded once, why not do it again, after reading the comments from the 'outside' world to the piece? Send it to the original mod you sent it to, and we'll post it up on the same thread.

Be careful of trying, as author, to 'explain' the writing to those who commented - but if things were said that touched/affected the voice/narrator/I character of your piece, stay 'in character' or 'in story' and let rip.
