Assignment - Start to a Novel .. or...

Make a random list of 7 books from your bookshelf or of books that come to mind. Without thinking of the actual books, which titles intrigue you, which ones pull at you? Which ones give you a fear tingle?

Choose the title which gives you most energy, type it out, and then dive in and write the first paragraph of that novel as if the title had suddenly come to you and you had to begin the book immediately.

Write what comes up!
Do not edit as you write.
Go fearward!
Give all the details..

If you are drawn to write more than one paragraph, fine, but see if you can pour all your energy into that one paragraph.

Post the work up on the Responses to Assignment board, do not edit what you have written.

Oops, I meant to make this assignment 'open': it doesn't have to be a novel, could be a memoir, non fiction, poetry, essays.. whatever comes.
