Mongolia

michaelsits said Sep 30, 5:18 AM:

Hello everybody!

Seemed like time to drop in and say hello.
Yes, i am still alive, and well, mostly.  Everything is different than i thought, no surprise there.  Mongolia is a wrirters dream with its stark, harsh and relentless landscapes and environment, too bad i am not writing. Not completely true- i have a little brown pad that i have been writing Waka with, some feel good. Nothing more than that. This is a bare bones journey and o room for other stuff.

I have experienced a lot so far, too much to mention.  I still have not made it to the part of the Gobi near the Altai mtns that i felt inspired to come here and experience, maybe some time later this week. Travel in mongolia is quite a chllenge and requires patience and endurance.  It takes 3-5 hours to fo 100km in a strong russsian vehicle with a good driver who knows the way through the mountains and valleys.  Very bumpy!

I  miss being a part of this community, writing and reading and learning from each other. I look forward to when i can particiapte again, maybe a few months.  Some great stories running throuhg my head form experiences here like a yak carrying a satelite dish, an austrian girl beating up attackers in Ulaanbaatar, a guy stung by a nest of waps while carrting a full backpack,  a guy waking up and seeing a womans body naked (almost) next to him, a girl backpacking with a group a of guys, a Reiki training in a ger.  So much matertial plus mongolia itself.

Enough from me for now. I may have email access again tomorrow then maybe not for a while again. Probably back to no showers, internet or beds for a bit.  I have not shaven since i got here- i look awful….Be well and i miss you all!

Peace and lovev,
michael

oh Michael!!!! such a treat to hear from you. I was thinking about you the last days, waiting patiently for the time you could be one of our Monthly Mods :-) but by the time you return from the Gobi perhaps you'll be head deep in that Mongolian novel of yours. Great stories.
Sending love and hugs your way

I agree - so nice to hear from you. What an adventure you're on. Glad it is full of experiences and material for writing later! I think that you are always a part of this community no matter where you are - even if you don't have access to email/ internet/ showers or a bed. (kind of grateful not to be next to you without having showered for a long period - but that's just me and my sensitive nose ;-) )

so looking forward to hearing more of your travels.

be well!

Oh Micheal, lovely to hear from you, hope I'm not too late for your next internet date before you disappear again… !

Patience and endurance, huh? Oh boy, rather you then me, bro'!  ;)  Sounds like you'll be having new material coming out your ears by the time you get back. Very much looking forward to whenever that will be.

Lots of love to Mongolia!

Michael, our Mongolian correspondent, good to hear you are alive. And hope Gobi will be gentle with you when you enter, you mad man, not shaved? You must look like a cave man by now.
Ulaanbaatar… boy, one of those names that brings up chilly pictures and a sense that it really is FAR AWAY from anything anywhere.

Looking forward to get full report some day. Yammy.

Love and take care michael xoxox

today i am leaving mongolia for oskemen, kazakhstan. It has been seven grueling and powerful weeks. I am incredibly grtaeful for my time and for leaving. I sense i will be traveling for another month or so, who knows?  Nothing has been as i assumed and in some ways, exactly as i thought- crazy, forceful, dangerous, exhausting, rejuvenationg, long, open, bizarre and new to me in many ways- but also familair as if i have done this before.

I miss being a part of this community. I see the number of posts on a regular basis and drool. someday i will be able to participate again.

Sandra- no khoomi ( throat singers) that i have encountered. I was hoping t do so but it didnt happen.

Peace and love,
michael
