  Nohealani : Slave of Love

Tarot Card: King of Swords

Nohealani said Dec 22, 2009, 11:59 AM:

Graceful and graceless he takes his stand without hesitation. He stares at the cold shiny steel of the sword between his hands, and at once, as if lead by someone else’s hands, the sword strikes down on his victim. Standing over him now, he becomes aware of the numbness taking over him as he watches this man’s light slowly fade. He found himself smiling slyly as he thought to himself, “ He was a worthy opponent.” He wipes the blood off his blade, steps over the man that minutes ago fought with a passion that he knows nothing of, and continued walking towards the moon.          The night’s cool air touching his face was the only thing that allowed him to know for certain that he was alive. He didn’t know where he was going, and he didn’t care. The story she told him of the moon was the only thing motivating him now. He could hear her voice on the wind, “ The moon was once full of darkness; unsure of any emotion. It circled the earth with no one knowing because it could not be seen. Then one day the Sun crossed its path, and the Sun and the Moon fell in love. Joined for no more than a few minutes they looked down on Earth and realized that they shared a common bond- the admiration for the many colors before them. They knew that it was inevitable that they continue on their journey, but the Sun was greatly saddened, for he would be the only one to know how beautiful the Moon truly was, and that it would be many years before they would cross paths again. He then turned to the moon, “ I have not touched you for fear that my love would burn you, but I wish to touch you now, but not to consume you. I wish to leave you with a part of me so as I may see you.”          Before the Moon could respond the Sun embraced her with his warmth. Just as she was about to cradle herself there, feeling for the first time some meaning to her existence, the Sun let go without a goodbye, and continued his descent across the Universe, but the Sun had left a piece of him behind… a sign that they would forever be a part of each other… he had left her light.”

I only today noticed this one sitting here with out comment.

It struck me as a very simple but somehow haunting tale with mythic qualities to it. I like how you went from the opening scene of the king/warrior, tying it into the mythic part of the piece.

In the end the story left me feeling a little bit sad but in a nice way.

Thanks

I ditto Andrew, a haunting piece.

I just wanted more of it :) I wanted to know who the warrior is and why is he so “numb”. And also who was the “she” -caracter that told the tale of the moon? I would love to see that opened up more. But this tale is so short yet there might be more later on in this tale?

I read a poem somewhere about sun touching moon, embracing… this reminded me about it and I think you have beautifully shown about the light, how it shines, a mythical tale.

I have a feeling that this could be a start to a huge story, it lies behind there somewhere, I sense it, an epic journey of some kind.

More please!
