the scary thing in the mirror

jenni said Oct 6, 2008, 3:18 PM:

I thought of this when I was commenting on Tom's Bad Dream.

About a year ago I decided to try and raise my chakra's. I am not even sure that is what you call it. I read about it in a  mary magdalene book I had read. I think it was called, hmm can't remember. something about the sex secrets of isis or along those lines. there was a part in the back about raising energy up your spine along the two different energy pathways or serpents or something till you got to the top of your head and then the serpents would drip nector into the crown of your head. I thought I would try it. wish I could find that book. I thinkI  Ient to someone and haven't seen it around recently.
So I was on my bed sitting crosslegged. I have a small vanity at the end of my bed with a mirror on, so I could see myself. I didn't really decide ahead of time to be in front of the mirror. I just ended up that way.
My dog napoleon follows me everywhere,so he happened to be on the bed with me.
I started to concentrate on the energy at the base of my spine and tried to bring it upward.
Not long after my dog started to bark and growl at the mirror. He kept it up. He went a little nuts about it growling and carrying on. Then he jumped off the bed and started growling in at the room where i was.
I decided to get up and go downstairs to see what would happen, or to get him to stop. We both went down the stairs and then he stood at the bottom of the stairs and barked up at the second floor for the longest time. Growling and barking.
I have no idea what he saw but it really scared me. I never did that again.
I told me sister about it and she suggested that I always light a candle and make a prayer to keep out evil when I do such a thing.
About six months later I was reading this book called The sixth sense and it described a similar process of raising your energy. It suggested that used a convex mirror. It also suggested that you light candles and pray to ward off evil.
I find the whole thing pretty fascinating but scary. Still haven't considered doing it again

Hi Jenni,

sounds like quite a frightening experience to have… it sounds like to me that you were experimenting with Kundalini energy - I have heard it be referred to as rising or awakening this energy. It's a pretty powerful experience, and it's usually recommended to do it with the guidance of a teacher. One of the most important things to do regardless is to make sure that you ground yourself before trying to open/ awaken that energy (very fiery). In my experience, animals are very very sensitive to energy - and if it was something that was negative (which would explain the reaction of your Napoleon) then it could have very well not been attached to what you were doing energetically but what was around you at the time…Could be too, because that energy is so powerful and it was the first time you were doing it - your pup was feeling a 'stranger' was in the room with you. Hard to know!! I think it is good that you followed your instincts, stopped, investigated and did not just push through…  perhaps just wasn't the best moment to try to do it. Doesn't mean though that there won't be a moment sometime in the future, with the right training that you will be able to try again.

yes quiet laughter, I think you are right. I forgot what it was called. I have been warned about the danger of that. I guess i figured, since I really didn't know what i was doing and figured I was doing it right anyway so what could the harm be. I see now. I guess maybe there is evil out there just like there is good and you have to be wary and awake and cognizant and all of that

That is a frightening story, Jens.  I doubt that I would have tried again either.  It did remind me (in a way) of my dog's reaction right after I attained Level I Reiki.  I was so excited and enegerized by the whole thing and my hands were buzzing constantly so I tried it on Crickett.  She jumped about a mile high in the air and ran from me!  It was comical but it did indeed prove that I had some energy flowing in those buzzing hands! I tried it on a rabbit who usually hated to be held and he laid in my hands like he had died and gone to heaven.  My husband even asked me what I had done to the rabbit!  There's a great Reiki group right here on Gaia if you are ever interested in learning more.

Sorry jenni, there's no evil around you. Only bad.

That was scary, though. I love pet stories, where they see stuff we don't.

xoxo!

Thanks for sharing your experience jenni.  Change can be scary to sensitive creatures- Beauty and not-so Beautiful- they tend to react regardless of the polar energies.  For that matter, so do i.  Candles are a good thing, as is prayer as is caution.  Glad you are well.  i echo ayla's experiences and appreciation of The Reiki Tree here on gaia, great people.

As a side note, i experimented with a new meditation and process last night that rocked me a bit but very positive, rocked me none the less.
Peace
michael

Hi Jenni,

Your experience does sound truly frightening. I think la is right, that some of these things work out better when they are guided by someone that you trust. I once had an acupuncture session from a new practitioner, and became very ill afterward, so that's why I threw in the trust part.

I just wanted to chime in about the dog angle to this. In 1990, we bought a house in Tempe, Arizona. Now, it's highly unusual to find a mid-century tract home that is haunted, but during escrow, we were summoned one evening by the realtor. Apparently the sellers were feeling guilty over the fact that they had not revealed that a young girl had drown and died in the backyard pool.

We were not disuaded. We bought the house. Everything was fine until my Shih Tzu began to see things that nobody else could. She'd look into the living room and get immensely happy, and bark excitedly, and even act as if somebody was petting her.

Eventually, the plaster cracked in the pool, and we had to drain it. It was then that Jessica, the Shih Tzu, would excitedly dive into the deep end of the pool as if she was following someone. I finally put two and two together, and came up with, “Oh, wow.”

Animals do tend to be much more sensitive than people to such phenomena. I would definitely say that I would not try that alone again if I were you. I don't know if it's evil, but I do believe there's strange energy out there, and it can be very unpleasant when you step into it unaware.

Love ya,
Andrea

hey,

thanks so much everybody for your comments. It was so nice to come here this evening and read from all of you. I have recently been very curious about Reike. spelling? and i will look into that tree. I want to learn how to do it. I think i could look into it around here as well. I am very interested in it and i love the stories about your pets ayla and what happened to them and I wonder if you are going to get the next level.
Thanks tom about the evil. I wondering what is the difference between bad and evil and i will have to look that up to be sure. Evil sounds worse anyway.
I am glad michaelists I mean michaelsits about your new mediation and I would like to hear about it too.
Andrea, thanks for your comments. Wow about the haunted house and the girl. that really gave me the shivers. At least she sounded like a happy spirit and your dog liked her. I was worried about him diving into the pool though. I am assuming it was after you put the water back in.
