In editing the description of this discussion, I liked this opening that tumbled out:

Creativity Cafe ultimately is a shape shiftting environment finely tuned to take advantage of these times and harness Creativity for the benefit of Humanity.

We are looking to write the one page executive summary for which a business plan created many years ago is still viable.

Artists as Agents of Social Change workshop begins this Saturday!
Please join us this summer for a month and a half of actions, activism and public interventions.
Sign up for the Artists as Agents of Social Change package (3 workshops) for $75. All sessions require a reservation.

Part 1 : Learn about the practice of 3 different artists and take part in group actions.

This Saturday, July 14 launches Eyebeam's Artists as Agents of Social Change series, as part of our Summer School program. Participants will have the opportunity to hear how three artists are actively engaging the public and altering spaces with their practice. Adam Bobbette, Steve Lambert and Robert Ransick will present. Following the presentations, Steve Lambert will lead an action out into the streets of NYC.

This day will serve as an opportunity to gain information about and inspiration for the projects that participants will be able to build with the presenters during the following evening clinics:

Part 2 : Choose one evening in this section to develop your own action, with the guidance and support of the artist leading the clinic.

Clinic 1: Tuesday, July 17: 7-10pm
Steve Lambert
Participants will have the opportunity to collectively conjure and plan an action, based on Steve's lo-tech, but engaging interventionist techniques often involving dispensing new and/or altering existing signs, based on anti-advertising strategies.

Clinic 2: Thursday, July 19: 7-10pm
Architectural Interventions in Public Space
Participants will be working with lo-tech and easily accessible materials to create architectural interventions in public space. Our purpose is both research and production. The workshop will be concerned with questions and themes of sustainability and land use. How can we build in public in such a way as to draw attention to these themes and create alternatives? The workshop will draw from 19th century style forays, Sun Ra's Sunology, the nesting habits of certain types of blackbirds and weaver birds and the architectural practices of barnacles and parasites.

Clinic 3: Tuesday, July 24: 7-10pm
neuroTransmitter
Exploring the art of radio and broadcast for the purpose of public interventions. Learn how to use neuroTransmitter's com_muni_port (currently on view in Eyebeam's exhibition, Source Code), a self-contained backpack transmitter for short range radio broadcasting, for disseminating information and engaging public participation.

Participants in the three clinics will bring their actions to the streets and present their ideas and experiences in a public event on Saturday, July 28 @ 1pm.

Part 3: Bring your action to the streets.
Saturday, July 28
1:00 - 6:00 PM

The conclusion of Summer School and Eyebeam's Digital Day Camp program. Participants in both programs will present their ideas for participatory projects, and work with members of the public to bring their actions to the streets.

I am looking at all the posts with my name and no others. I guess this "place" blog or whatever is just an extention of my journal entries. I hope you enjoyed the concert for a Greener World?

I was at a party, hosting the PETER ROSEN corner with a video projector sharing our online gathering (3 people made it in that I am aware of - none of them from zaadz), my images, animations, video feedback, live interactive media and of course making music by singing songs people like to sing along with. It was the best of both worlds for me.

As for the PEACE PORTAL, I was too distracted as well intereacting with physical reality to keep checking to see if anyone had showed up in the chat room.

Then someone showed up at the party with an iPhone and the night was over for interactions with live folks. I got my hands on it and explored everything. A great device! I got to teach its owner how to use it (being a bit more adept at computing and Mac modes). We took photos (which were a bit weak in quality and clarity compared to the images my cellphone takes with a smaller chip) and I set up an email account on it so we could send the pix via email to my computer (and then back to the iPhone). What a cool little device!

I am writing the rest in my actual blog at Creativity Cafe. If you like you can head on over. We can talk later today!

      Hi,

Well, after the fact, my attempt at staging a peace portal, did not happen. I am glad I had friends to test with all day on Saturday (learning the Stickcam interface). I spent most of the day, helping friends debug their technology. But, not one person from Zaadz showed up that I could see (in two hours of monitoring) from 7pm to 9pm. Of course that would be becuase people on the mainland were in bed sleeping!

So it was a failed experiment in community building. What do you think are the reasons?

My work involves using art and technology for humanity and the grounding of the vision delivered to me on july 11-12, 1980 of an artists resource center where cybertheater and edutainment could help luddites and those preferring to not interact with computers, to take advantage of the networking and educational possibilities afforded by the Internet and global community.

In a network of multimedia interactive edutainment venues called Creativity Cafe along with the facilitated networking thanks to the venue operating system, a club where patrons practice pronoia, offering mentoring and exposure to new ideas via educational entertainment, will help us dispell out moded beliefs and embrace our long hidden authentic self. Patrons and those "tuning in" will come to see how their lives have been lived in fear of death (not lust for life) and without any real passionate expression, they have not expressed their potential and through CCafe interactivities, will learn how to.

In this day and age, we must channel our inspired selves in every way, liberating new kinds of ideas, missions, solutions, venues, spiritual awarenesses, self healing and authentic living - that will drive the future of our world. Its time for major changes. I see Creativity Cafe; the name of this interactive network of conscious clubbers, creative collaborators and conscious capitalists to bring our world past peace preventors in the name of the people and for the benefit of all peoples (online and off).

I was invited to teach a class on my light painting technique at a local high school here on Maui. It was an amazing and enlightening (pun intended) experience. We shot video of my presentation and about half of the 45 kids and teachers became very passionate about participating in making art in thin air using flashlights and colored gels!

I awarded the best "light painters" with some of my custom, hand made Tshirts, including my famous HeartWave Mandala T-Shirts:

http://www.cafepress.com/various_media

I will post more here about my experience ( and how I had to use 3D glasses to bribe students out of their seats) soon. I will also point you to the movie we made, once edited and combined with the photographs the kids painted of their paintings with light, that documents this first forray in bringing my art to institutionalized learning environments.

      ALOHA,

I am making plans to go to SIGGRAPH (http://siggraph.org) in San Diego this year from Aug 4-8. If you don't know, SIGGRAPH is the premiere place for creative people in every field of human experience to discover and explore, express how computer graphics applies. If you have any connection with someone in San Diego who might be able to put me up (and preferably join me at SIGGRAPH) that would be great! I have offered to mentor some young folk who are just starting out in their career with computer graphics.

There is no better place to witness the most amazing confluences of art, technology, society, medicine science, entertainment, communication, and pure creativity, unleashed by the power of computers used for graphics.... SIG special interest group ON computer GRAPHics. It is so much fun being with cutting edge minds with an interest in creativity and computers!

From fantasy to reality that doesn't yet exist, SIGGRAPH is a playground for those on the cutting edge of computing, art and technology and social reform.

I was lucky to have two proposals for Creativity Cafe accepted for production. Head over the Creativity Cafe's site and use the search there for more about my proposals and projects (KidCast for Peace; Solutions for a Better World) that were accepted in 1995 (educators panal) and 1998 (Creativity Cafe Edutainment prototype and KidCast for Peace; Solutions for a Better World week-long installation).

I am seeking housing near the convention center, ideally at little or no cost and preferably in exchange for something I might contribute to you from my areas of expertise. What are they you ask? Check this out: http://creativity.net/CCHistory.html and be sure to click on my photo for a resume!

Please let me know if you can help me find lodgings from August 3rd through August 8th or any part. It would be great to find a spare bed, but couch crashing would be ok too! TIA!

      Dear Gentleperson,

I hope it all went well with you on Earth Day? Did you happen by Creativity Cafe's KidCast Central: http://creativity.net/KidCast/ ???

I made the best of being a one-person KidCast Booth/show operator at Maui's Earth Day Festival. I did last minute preproduciton of our proposed KidCast for Peace; Solutions for a Better World Broadcast and Networking opportunity, which alas, never really amounted to much because although I did make some great connections, and the kids made art (See CCafe's blog for documentation), I didn't put the 4 months of preproduction effort:

http://www.maui.net/~kidcast/kc-prodtasklist.html

that I usually do, into the project this year having burned out from 17 broadcasts over 11 years, and because the event had no Internet connectivity!

A few stopped by our PEACE PORTALS, Userplane and my friends CU-SeeMe server during the mornings tests from my office. There was no network and school was out, so we'd have had to have kicked the KidCast into gear many months ago for any degree of success (predictablally)

We did get some fabulous art at Maui's Earth Day Festival and our KidCast for Peace making table. Art made by kids of all ages was created. I will be posting documentation to Creativity Cafe's KidCast for Peace Gallery of Solutions and CCafe's Blog:

http://creativity.net/blogs/ccafe/creativitycafe.html

and Creativity Cafe's Gallery of Solutions, if a few days. You are welcome to subscribe to CCafe's Blog RSS feed.

Aloha,
Peter

      http://www.radiocomplex.com/heartinactionbeatboard/heartinactionbeatboard.html

is the demo room that seems to have pretty good interface, but I tend toward userplane, what do you think? Which has the better user friendlyness?

KidCast Central, http://creativity.net/KidCast/ is Creativity Cafe's center of KidCast activities and Gallery of Solutions, where a click on the top link will get you into our USERPLANE CHAT if you are registered? If not, go to

http://www.userplane.com/instant/

THEN GO:

http://www.userplane.com/chatlite/myUserplane.cfm

AND CLICK SIGN UP! then join us over in KidCast Central and select Portal for Peace and also PEACE PORTAL (to meet other folks and have live intereactions and chat's we hope about SOLUTIONS FOR A BETTER WORLD.

AWARDS and TV coverage with add to the awesome contributions of those who care about our Spaceship Earth.
