The women who might be interested in this project will have a combination of these qualities (not necessarily in this order):

Advanced spiritual pathwork, and willing to share her experiences
Clear communication and negotiation skills
A taste for living in harmony with the Land
An urge to share this kind of living with others
Artistic
Dances with the wind
Drums to the beat of the birds' wings
Sees the 'magical' aspect of the desert
Is handy with tools and can "mcgiver" anything
Enjoys solitude
Believes in 'community'
Is self-supporting (able to pay rent)
Has building skills: carpentry, plumbing, electrical, mechanical
Gardening and/or composting/vermicomposting skills
Is willing to listen to the land and see what *it* wants

those who wish to join this pod should meet the following criteria:

You're probably a dyke/lesbian/gay woman/transgendered/bi woman (or comfy living with 'em)
You're actively walking an evolved spiritual path
You think you'd like to live/work in the desert

The way I see it, the property needs ...

Housing (there are existing stuctures that will need to be torn down)
Outbuildings (artist studios, garden sheds, etc)
Composting piles
Recycling area
Organic garden
Sunken hot "tub"
Patience
More to come ...

... and more specifically ...

Vehicles to haul away the trash and human debris that has accumulated on the land
Gentle hands to develop the structures and environment to support the kind of living I envision
Using natural/indigenous materials, build structures to house residents and guests
Partners/collaborators who are self-supporting and can contribute time and energy (and rent)

Women (past, present or future women) who self-identify as dykes (or are dyke-friendly) who want to get away from the city and are willing to 'endure' the high desert and all its mysteries.

Women and men who can or want to identify with "feminine energy," who can contribute and want to be collaborators in a project that supports 'sustainable/green living' and welcome a change in lifestyle and wish to support and provide it for others.

Women and men who believe that creating 'community' is vital to our human existence, and for whom drama and drugs are anethema to that vitality.

Women and men who can contribute both financially and with physical effort to build this dream.

Women and men whose spirituality is their driving force.

The image I've used for the logo on this pod is one I took of sunrise from my front door. Acres and acres of desert and Joshua Trees, with only a few residences in the distance.

What I'd like to develop is a self-sustaining property where women (dykes or dyke-friendly) can come for private retreat ... for spiritual or physical renewal or take advantage of studio spaces for arts, crafts or writing ... a place that is completely "off the grid," using solar and wind power (there's LOTS of both) and making as small an impact on the land as possible.

This is not something I can, nor choose to do on my own. I'll be seeking women (past, present or future women) who'd like to be a part of this dream, and will address that in more detail in the Dreamers section.

For now, to get an idea of the kind of structures I'm talking about, for instance, take a visit to Project Earthship. These structures are engineered to maximize the use of natural resources, minimize the impact on its surroundings, utilize solar & wind power, use water resources three times ... and are beautiful. I'm imagining that the retreat will actually be at least particially, if not fully, subterrainean.

To be self-sustaining, there'll be organic gardening, a grove of flowering trees that help produce honey and can be harvested for wood for crafts, and guest services. I'd like to see a space that's available for running seminars on the land.

It's not too much to dream, is it?
