Acne?

Crystallized said Mar 19, 2007, 12:22 PM:

Until recently, I've grown up eating everything. I ate junk food, hot dogs, bacon, processed, pre-packaged foods. Though I am relatively healthy (less healthy than I thought though). Now recently I've started eating healthier foods, and I find that I have a lot of acne on my face and chest. Now, I've always had clear skin, but lately it feels like I've hit puberty all over again. Could this be because I've been eating helathier and drinking more water and I'm sweating out impurities?

Hi Tiffany… thanks for joining us!

It sounds like the acne is a symptom/side effect of you becoming healthier.  I know its strange, but some times your body has to get worse before it gets better.  Your body is just releasing and excreting toxins anyway it can… through the skin etc.
Exercise, sauna/ sweating, and salt baths can really help your body release the toxins out of your pores.  Also, try sunshine!  It will drastically improve acne if not abolish it completely.
Drink pure water…. filtered or spring.  And avoid bringing more toxins into your body through the skin via skin products that are toxic non-organic.  Try all natural deoderant, soaps, toothpaste, lotions, shampoo and conditioner, body wash, etc.  Anytime you put something on your skin, it is like the same as eating it.  It goes right into the blood stream.  Conventional cosmetics are laced with chemicals that have a very toxic effect on the body…. including of course the skin.  Aveda, nature's gate, giovanni are some of the companies I really like for natural body care and cosmetics.

Good Luck with your new path! Perservere and you will start to see better effects I assure you!!!!

Dear Crystallized,

I remember when I first started a hot yoga practice, 110 degress and  40% humidity, my skin began dumping ammonia by the towel fulls.   The skin is
the largest organ we have, and the body uses it as much as possible to detoxify
when it can.

Steam steam steam …. find a local YWCA or equivalent and treat yourself to a
soothing detoxification.   You might want to go for a massage to work the lymph
channels to assist the process.

Good for you on the raw food, yes, its a common theme in the consciousness of the world right now.   The time has come to raise up the body :)

Blessings.

Thank you both. The acne is clearing away somewhat. I've been sure to drink lots of water, and sweat it out. I've also been looking into the more natural products. Thanks for the info.
