Funny, I thought I was the only person in the world thinking about his bounce-list :)
Anyways, personally I am highly selective and judicious about which songs, I hand pick anything that I can imagine bouncing to which would have a lasting appeal...
So, I have stuff like bjork-big time spirituality and madonna-ray of light and jamiroquai-canned heat, to some less known remixes (Diplo) and more electronic sound (The Knife, Daft Funk) and now I'm hunting for ecstatic drumming- thinking about Kodo or Carribian drumming; I already have Hyaam which has some great bouncing tracks.

Hello everyone! I'm new to the group and new to rebounding - I can't believe i hadn't heard of it before!

I've done a ton of research and I think buying a Bellicon would be the best option for me. In addition to them being top-notch, I have a few reasons why I need a silent rebounder, and it seems as if the others aren't silent at all, nor do they stay silent, if they start out that way.

The Bellicon models can be very expensive, and my budget is pretty strict right now. I'm reaching out to rebounders here at GAIA, to see if anyone has a Bellicon they are not using and would like to sell to me. You can free up some space, get some money in your pocket, and feel good about helping someone else, all at the same time!

I am also open to bartering. If you are in the Philadelphia, PA area (including southern NJ, northern DE), I could possibly trade massage or a blending of massage and cash.

If interested, or you know someone who might be, please message me here at the GAIA site, or call 856-986-0004.

Thanks!

m

Is there online information?

You are exaclty right: there are a zillion ways to rebound, all of them interesting, all of them powerful. I look forward to your many contributions to rebounding and ChiBounding over the next several decades!

After resurrecting my old, rusty, "Springer" brand rebounder from the 80's, I rekindled my passion for bouncing but promptly tore the surface fabric. Immediately, my body told me that this form of exercise was wonderful in so many ways. I decided to invest in the Rebound-Air model and have been loving my experience lately. I always find new ways to move on the rebounder and have recently been experimenting with stretching, yoga postures, etc that incorporate using the rebounder surface. After being introduced to Bradford Keeney's "Shaking Medicine", I found that "shaking" is really facilitated by being on the rebounder, also. I'm excited to get introduced to ChiBounding soon. What fun to find another passionate jumper.
Terry Rosendahl

      Hi there,

Take a look at what I've already written here:
http://pods.zaadz.com/digital_darshan/discussions/view/11414

If spending good money on high-qualityh equipment isn't a problem, then the choice is clear for most people: the Bellicon Ultimate rebounders. But even if you don't want to go for the best of what's out there, I wouldn't spend any less than the $150 or so it will take you to get an Urban Rebounder unit. Pretty much anything below that will be a toy, and not give you a good sense of what rebounding is like.

On Enlightenment.Com in our store we are selling three units, a medium-quality ReboundAir (spring-based) and the Bellicon Ultimates and Minis. Eventually, the prices will come down on the bungy-based Bellicon units, but right now there is nothing else like them, they come in to the country in small lots, and that's just what it is.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

best,

Jordan

      Hi Joel,

If you look around the pod you'll see a F.A.Q. just about equipment at http://pods.zaadz.com/digital_darshan/discussions/view/11414.

The bottom line is this: the most bang for the buck is going to be the Urban Rebounder. I don't like the mat, and I don't like it compared to the newer bungy-based units, but it definitely is not a toy, and you can get a real rebounding workout from it.

If you can afford it, you'd want to go all the way to the top of the line Bellicon Ultimate Rebounder, but if you've never been on one, you won't know the difference, and then later on you can treat yourself to one.

The one thing to *not* do is get a cheap sports store model, and that would be pretty much anything even into the low $100 range. And if you're going to spend that much, you might as well get the Urban Rebounder (which I have no relatinoshp with and Enlightenment.Com gets nothing out of that).

The mid-range American units, the ReboundAir and Bellicons, are in some ways better than the Urban Rebounder. For one thing, they have the better Permatron mat (a DuPont product). But I found these units couldn't really stand up to the pounding that a guy who weighs about 200 pounds like me gave it when I went hard 45 minutes a day. The springs broke, and the mats frayed.

That's about what I know. Good luck!

-- Jordan

      Hi
I'm Joel, and I haven't really ever formally rebounded (there was a game at a gym I went to once that had four people bouncing on mini-tramps and throwing a bean-bag over dividing nets into goals on the opposite side, but that's not *quite* the same. ;) It was fun, and I was flat exhausted when I got out of the thing, couldn't walk very well. )
I'm considering buying a rebounder to put into my daily integrative practices (yoga & chi kung, mostly), and wondering what the most cost effective model is - I know there are several listed on enlightenment.com, Jordan. I'm just hoping you can give some relatively objective assessements of their cost/functionality ratios. ;)
ETA: never mind! One should always check the FAQ's first. Ooopsy.

      Hi Jordan and all,

I just thought I'd pop back in and see what's bouncing in this neck of the Zaadz woods.

I've been bouncing consistently at least 4 days a week for 30 minutes. Some weeks I've been doing more but even with just bouncing 4 days, I feel my strength increasing and I am able to sustain the exercises I do, including jumping jacks, running in place, bounce crossover kicks, side kicks, hopping on one leg at a time, twists and "jumping rope" for longer periods.

I've continued to play with different music for ChiBouncing and found The Best of INXS cd has several songs that are great for bouncing. I've also been enjoying some old Beach Boys as it always lifts my spirits and is highly bouncable. "Good, good, good, good vibrations..."

I'd love to hear about your experiences with ChiBouncing and especially any good bouncing tunes you've discovered.

Warmly,
Jodi

Well, I rebound pretty much every day, but still do two Pilates classes a week and lift weights usually once a week (upper body, pretty heavy). If you use handweights while you are rebounding, you can also get a pretty good upper body workout, but I would still integrate some kind of stretching, or Pilates, or yoga into your routine, ideally a little before rebounding, but maybe after rebounding as well.

The other thing I'd say is: experiment. See what works. You may find that rebounding does do it all for you, or it may not. But let's hope for the best!

Hi. I'm Healey and I've been lurking on Zaadz and this group for a while. I'm brand-new to rebounding, though not to fitness. I have to say I'm hooked! It's fun, easy (well, relatively) and I'm hoping it does all the good things it's supposed to. I've been through some life-changes and for me, well, exercise kind of went out the window. I'm looking to get myself back into my former shape. Fortunately I don't have that far to go, only 10 or 15 pounds. I'm wondering what other steps might help in addition to rebounding. I've never had to 'go on a diet' before, but I'm not a junk-eater either. My old workout routine consisted of weights/cardio (usually running on a treadmill). So I guess my question is, can I do it all with rebounding or does it need some balancing in other areas?

Good luck with that, Jeff. I'd like to hear how you feel about the videos after you get them, and whether you'd recommend them to others. I have a collection of rebounding videos, but find that they constrain my natural urges too much. (Whether or not I should go with or go against my natural urges is a long discussion, of course.)

For some people, good music alone is enough. Others like to watch TV. Rebounding videos would seem to fall in the middle, but as a learning tool I'm very curious as to how effective they prove for you.

I couldn't agree with you more, Jordan, on all counts.

I like to have a variety of music for rebounding as that keeps the session interesting and allows for varying the pace and intensity which, I've found, helps me to keep going and sustain bouncing for prolonged periods. If the music is off (or not conducive to bouncing) it takes much more effort to keep going because the action is no longer supported by the structure of the music.

There are songs that lend themselves to bouncing at some pace and others that just don't. If I'm not inspired to do something it doesn't matter how good I know it would be for me, I'm not going to do it, or I won't do it for long, at any rate.

How about starting a playlist thread where we can post any songs we find that are great for bouncing. We can make a note of which steps or movements we've found work well with that music, too. This will also give those new to rebounding some ideas for keeping it fun and interesting.

You are right, Jordan. In pooling our efforts to find good bouncing music, we should be able to come up with a great variety of tunes we can all choose from to create custom playlists that match our individual tastes and support others in enjoying rebounding.

Happy bouncing to all,
Jodi

      HI Jodi,

I've been away for a few days myself, and I notice that most of the pods are quiet. It remains to be seen if Zaadz will really "take off" or kind of collapse in under its own weight.

As for music: even if you find a "perfect" CD, eventually it will get kind of played out, so I think that the idea of us all finding music for each other, playlists, or perhaps "bouncelists," would be very helpful.

Sometimes, when music goes from fast to slow or vice-versa, you can chage the bounce from, let's say, a high bounce to a double-time pulse, and that can make things still work. Different CDs do different things to me as well: when I listen to the Traveling Wilburys, by the time I'm done I usually have at least a minor emotional epiphany.

Ultimately, though, it's the music *plus* your will to keep on going and really take care of your body (in a fun, easy, and effective way) that will keep you bouncing regularly...

Be well today.

-- Jordan

      Hello!

Where is everyone? It's pretty quiet at my pod, too. Maybe the pod people just haven't joined Zaadz yet. Perhaps someone should send a memo.

Just reporting in, I do not have the compilation together but every time I bounce I've listened to a different cd that potentially has songs that have a high bouncability factor.

My Goldilocksian tendencies are proving helpful as I continue my search for a variety of fun to listen to, naturally uplifting, "just right" songs. One of the cd's I like is the soundtrack from the movie, Shall We Dance. The first few songs, especially, got high marks from me. Some of the albums I thought would be great, like some of the Motown stuff was either too fast or too slow.

The happy search continues. Any reason to listen to music is a good thing in my book. Getting to bounce around like a kid at the same time, PRICELESS!

In joy,
Jodi

Again, try the Traveling Wilburys. Oh, the Cranberrys ... at least the first 6 songs from their first album (with Just My Imagination and Animal Instinct) is pretty great.

Just my imagination

      Thanks, Jordan.

Yesterday I did about 45 minutes of bouncing to old Stevie Wonder and found some of it highly bouncable and other songs were just a drag in rebounding terms. When the song is too slow I find I either can find a good bouncing pace or even a double-time running fast and hard in place won't do it.

I'm planning to make a compilation cd of perfect songs for bouncing. I'll let you know what I come up with.

I find the music makes a huge difference in how long I feel like bouncing and what kind of variety of movements I can naturally do to that particular beat.

I'm so happy to have this place to check in to about this and have begun encouraging my friends to get bouncing, too.

Namaste,
Jodi

Well, I've found David Bowie, old and new (especially Reality and Heathen) work well. As does ELO (OK, really old and dates me, but it works well). Really, anything with a good beat should work. Fiona Apple has some stuff that works well. And the Traveling Wilburys is a big YES for rebounding!

      Dear Jordan and all,

I'm enjoying getting back to rebounding but am looking for new ideas for music that works well.

I played some old Doobie Brothers and The Best of The Association. I find some of the old stuff engages my youthful spirit and is energizing. Some of the tunes work better than others so I'm jumping down to change the song.

What kinds of music, or which cds have you found work well, meaning, is uplifting, has a good beat and "you can dance to it"?

Happy bouncing to all!

Warmly,
Jodi
