Hey there!

My name's Jackson and I've been a Gaia Community member for a good long time, now. Since I consider myself to be an “Earthist” (really tuned to Gaia consciousness), I'm stoked to see that ECC is in full effect here on Gaia! :) Earth Cinema Circle is really a gem in the rough. So glad that it's alive on our planet!

xoxo,

Hi Jessica, and thank you so much for kicking this off.

:waves to crowd:

Hi everyone! My name is Siona; I'm Director of the Gaia Community. It's an honor to welcome you here.

I'm say straight out that excited about having these community forums. I'm one of those who, after watching the sorts of shorts and documentaries that ECC collects, really enjoys talking about them with others. I'll oftentimes see them alone, or with one or two other people, but to my mind, there's so, so much that can be gained from the perspectives and insights of others. I get amazed at how different peoples' reactions can be, and for me, the process of conversation and dialogue makes the topic so much more real.

But I'm sure there'll be time to chat about all this later. For now, another warm welcome, and a grin of hello, and I'll look forward to learning more about each of you. :)

Welcome Nyc! We are so glad to have you :)
With technology constantly changing it can be difficult to stay on top of the what's what in the green scene. But you're absolutely right, Earth Cinema Circle can provide the eco-edu-tainment to help.
I look forward to chatting with you!

Hello, I'm Michelle, and I stumbled upon this group and it very much appealed to me. I'm relatively new to Gaia and am still feeling my way around. I am not a follower, really, of any one tradition as I see all different beliefs as different paths to the same Truth. But I was raised both Baptist and Catholic, with others smattered in there. Despite having hardline relatives who like to look down on those not
walking the same path, I trudge along.

Just a little info about me, I'm 43, in Alabama, have a 24 year old son in the Navy, and most of my friends are long distance. I tend to face a lot of things with humor, have to with health issues like fibromyalgia(pain and fatigue), graves disease, mitral valve prolapse syndrome, and probably more that I have forgotten and don't really care to remember, HA! I only mention these here because there are days when I may feel “okay” inside, my body feels like it hates me and I may not respond the way I mean to. If anything ever comes across badly, ask me about it, I more than likely didn't mean it to do so.

That's about it for now, I think. Now I'm off to track down my brain that wandered away while I was typing this.

Michelle!

Oh, what a lovely introduction. Welcome to Gaia, and welcome to the Earth Cinema Circle Group, and thank you, deeply, for your ever-so-considerate post. Were that all members so self-aware. :)

(I'm sure we'll all be able to be understanding, too; you're not the only one working through life with a chronic illness.)

Good luck with the mind-hunt. I'll let you know if I see an extra anywhere…

Michelle and Siona, while you're on the brain hunt, could you find mine as well? And I know Brad is always looking for a hammer and nails to fix his “broken brain,” too. Is it the warming weather here that has my eyes and fingers distracted when sitting my computer screen? What is the weather like in Alabama now, I wonder?

Hi all!

Mercale here : )  Glad to see there is finally an ECC group!  am always on the lookout for good environmentally minded (shorter) films to show at The Green Gathering, to list on the “green” website I am developing (still working on generating content - hard to find time to write with the kids home!) and also because we like to watch them at home with the kids :)

I look forward to sharing / learning on this great list. Go Earth Cinema Circle!  :P

Warm Blessings,
Mercale

Hi Mercale!

I'm so glad we've got the same enthusiasm. And goodness, lady–The Green Gathering looks excellent. Have you shown films there before? (Perhaps I should go look…) And if so, have you had much success with conversational circles afterwards?

I ask just because there's a local theater in Boulder that hosts screenings of independent films, with the understanding that, as part of the show, viewers convene afterwards at a local cafe bar to talk about what we've seen. It's a wonderful experience and I'd be curious to see whether you'd tried something similar. If not, oh, I'd highly recommend it.

So glad to have come across this group. We are explore.org, a filmmaking project of the Annenberg Foundation. We like to think not that we make “films that matter,” but that our films highlight “people that matter.” Truly we are trying to champion the selfless acts of others, by making short documentaries about the incredible leaders of the nonprofit world.

Some of the groups we have supported and documented are: the African Wildlife Foundation, in their support of the mountain gorillas of Rwanda, EARTH University in Costa Rica, a lawyer battling greenhouse gases in India, and a small Arctic community, trying to protect their fragile ecosystem.

We encourage members of this group to explore (pun intended!) our library of inspiration - http://explore.org. It's always growing as we go on more and more trips, and we look forward to your feedback, and ideas on new nonprofits to champion.

Hi Explore,
We're glad you've joined us as well! Your love for films and animals has landed you here in perfect timing as our soon-to-launch Volume 5 films are an animal inspired journey indeed :)

Thanks for sharing your film! The music gets me so excited I could just dive into a lake with the ducks or an ocean with dolphins!

Hi.
I was so excited to find this – and was halfway through the signup process when I saw that you only ship within the US and Canada. At the moment, I'm living in Israel. Any chance you'll start shipping overseas?

Welcome Solitaire! Thank you for your interest and your inquiry regarding the availability of Earth Cinema Circle. We are happy you joined us. Great Question! Unfortunately, at this time Earth Cinema Circle is not available outside the US and Canada and there are no immediate plans to make it available.
If you are a film buff, I might suggest you look into Spiritual Cinema Circle, if you havent already. SCC is film community, similar to ECC, that sends out inspiring and thought-provoking films all over the world each month. SCC is also a group you can join on Gaia Community. I look forward to hearing what you think!
