Deep Ecology: Reclaiming our Sanity in a Crazy World

Deep Ecology: Reclaiming Our Sanity in a Crazy World is designed to question how we are living. In so doing, the group’s purpose is to empower us to live healthier, more sustainable and more satisfying lives through kindling an attitude of relationship. Deep Ecology is thus geared to challenge our current philosophy of dualism as reflected in the war...(more)

Meenakshi Where would I post this, for example, Tharlam? http://green.yahoo.com/blog/the_conscious_consumer/61/when-to-switch-off-your-lights.html (7 months ago)
Tharlam Hey folks! As you can see, new rooms for discussion and exploration have been set up. At present I feel they are able to cover all neccessary bases, but as is the way with human thinking, I am very much likely to have missed something important! Do not hesitate to make suggestions! Activism, Deep Ecology & The Gaian Era

Tharlam [no longer around] said May 19, 1:49 AM:

A video entitled Activism, Deep Ecology and the Gaian Era for you all to take a look at and discuss where you feel neccessary.

The format is that of a panel (three individuals) relating initially to two questions posed to them by the organisers.

I feel as members of the Deep Ecology collective here on Gaia it would be interesting for us also to answer these questions:

What have been the effects in your life of recognising Gaian interconnection and intelligence as a real phenomena, as expressions of how the world truly functions?

AND

How has it impacted your perceptions of human beings, non-human life, the environment and your work?

I very much look forward to your responses.

I may be answering the second question first.  I believe that as human beings we are cells of one planet / universe body.  That body in all spaces is infinite and at that point we become egg/cells of Sophia always unfolding potential.  I think our deepest “sin” in modern age is to divorce the head as THE SEAT of Intelligence.  I think the entire body is mind and that Mind is, as mathematician Rucker puts it, everywhere (yet also non-local or non-locatable).  Regarding interconnections, I've always had an intuitive understanding of what physicist David Bohm calls the Holographic Universe.  In this universe, the part mirrors the whole, which is reflected in the Bibical line, “don't remove the smote from your brother's eye unless you remove it from your own.”  So, in the face of an American President “shocking and awing” a people into submission is the 2 airplanes going into the Twin Towers.  One of the Upanishads reads (I'm paraphrasing), “It is above, it is below, it is, in fact, this entire world.  And when knowns this, one knows bliss in the Self…and indeed, one is free.”  Or as mathematician Rucker put it in his “Fourth Dimension,” Mind is everywhere and you have no mind at all.”  Hence, the world is one Being.  When I look at birds, bees and coconut trees, I see cells of Gaia's body.  Are we the head of that body?  I only think that our thinking ourselves as the Divine INtelligence is due to our arragance.  In fact, holographically (or metaphorically, same idea), the fact that we are so much into our heads, much more so than our guts and our heart, that we have created a mess.  One piece of research stated that never is any decision made without consulting the heart.  I think that's true for many of us, especially folks like you.  But, in current day academics, politics and buisness, we're all head.  Another reason to rekindle the Yin Energy.  Take care and thanks for these questions.   Sorry if it sounds rushed, it's because it is!  Burl

Thanks Burl! Your words sound like music of spheres of this fractal Universe. I enjoyed so much in reading, every additional word is spare!
