Okay … finally have the time to start some thought here. Yesterday, I was having a conversation about some upcoming jobs, as well as current projects, and a person we have worked with in the past came up in conversation. This person is one of those 'control' people who need to (if you'll pardon the expression) pee on everything. I had forgotten about this person as it should be since my interactions with 'him' were in the past.
But bringing his name up yesterday agitated me. He has effectively kept us from working in two venues. I do not know the reason behind this, except to state what my instinct tells me and that is, he has no control over me, my company or what we/I do. In watching his style with his subordinates, he never allows their voices to be heard. I know our ideas and concepts are to original for him to grasp therefore, he dismisses us immediately and discredits us to his fellow workers.
The thing that really rankles is that the work we have done at these venues he works in has been met with stellar success and acclaim. I marvel at the fact he does not feel happiness that we have brought a successful program to the place in which he works, but instead, feels threatened by the success because he had nothing to do with it, therefore has to eradicate it.
When I was younger, this would have bothered me greatly, but today, I surround him with light and know that there is nothing he can do to impede our success in this industry.
So, my question to you is, how do you deal with these toxic people when they present themselves as a road block to your work?
