New Ways to Promote Your Etsy Shop (or do some shopping...)

Hi Everyone! Let's rev this pod back up now that it's the holiday season...

Here are 2 great resources for sellers (and buyers) I just found this week:

1.) I've just discovered a fabulous little site called We Love Etsy and I have to share. It's like Tribe for crafters and Etsy addicts. It's also a great way to promo, network, and blog. (There are cool html banners ready for the picking, too.)

2.) And did you know that Littleput has created a clever Blogger blog for the sole purpose of showing off Etsy shops?! It's a fabulous idea and I'm all kinds of excited.

Sellers, you can follow the easy directions to have your EtsyMini added under your category. Buyers, just start browsing. Easy as pie!

White Falcon Arts & AHS ResQ Fund I read of a AHS story recently that really got to me, so I contacted them about donating my art towards their ResQ Fund, a fund for severely abused animals.The monies go to vet them and also to prosecute the abusers.

Hi Zoe Ann,
It will all depend on the mail service you use.

I use the Royal Mail (as I'm in the UK) and if I want to check the price of shipping a certain item, I consult their website. For this you need to know the total weight of the item you're sending - packaging and all.

I have a question about shipping prices,
maybe you can help me.
It costs $4.60 to mail one of my songbooks
priority mail in the US.
How do I know how much shipping would
be to anywhere else?
The postage for my stickers is just the
cost of one stamp, but how much for anywhere else?

Hey guys, since you're both Zaadzster's and Etsyians, I thought you might be interested in a special I'm doing through June in my Etsy shop.

My Etsy shop is dismantled.etsy.com, and I make recycled clothing and accessories. Mostly reconstructed denim skirts, pins & barrettes, chokers, neckwarmers, etc...

Anyway, I also write a blog, MissMalaprop.com, where I spotlight other indie artists and designers (including a lot of Etsy sellers!), as well as green products, charities, and other cool stuff. Since the beginning of the year, I've been doing charity fundraisers through Firstgiving.com every few months for a different charity. Right now I'm raising money for Desire NOLA, a really amazing local non-profit that was formed following Hurricane Katrina. Organized by a passionate group of young community leaders, Desire NOLA is committed to rebuilding the Greater New Orleans area by assisting small businesses. Desire NOLA works to accomplish this goal by providing grants and business development assistance to locally owned businesses that embody the unique culture and ambiance of New Orleans.

So during June, I'm running a special in my Etsy shop. For each regular item sold in my Etsy shop during the month of June, I'll be donating $5 to Desire NOLA. Buy a Fleur-De-Lis product (pin, barrette, skirt, or bag), and I'll donate $10 for that item.

I'd love it if you'd check it out, or even help spread the word, both about this fundraiser and Desire NOLA itself. It really is a pretty amazing organization. They’ve done a lot to help local businesses here in New Orleans when the government (local, state, federal, all of it), hasn’t been as efficient at getting money to small businesses in need.
