THE FIRST EVER GLOBAL Zaangha Day!

~C4Chaos said Aug 12, 2006, 1:51 AM:

People weren't getting their jobs through their friends. They were getting them through their acquaintances. Why is this? Granovetter argues that it is because when it comes to finding out about new jobs – or, for that matter, new information, or new ideas – “weak ties” are always more important than strong ties. Your friends, after all, occupy the same world that you do. They might work with you, or live near you, and go to the same same churches, schools, or parties. How much, then, would they know that you wouldn't know? Your acquaintances, on the other hand, by definition occupy a very different world than you. They are much more likely to know something that you don't. To capture this apparent paradox, Granovetter coined a marvelous phrase: the strength of weak ties. Acquaintances, in short, represent a source of social power, and the more acquaintances you have the more powerful you are.

Today, August 12, 2006 is our first ever Global Zaangha Day! Thanks to the collective energy and collaborative passion of Zaadzsters, this pivotal event sprouted out of serendipity, literally!

So to all our Zaadzsters who are participating in the zaanghas, we wish you well. Make yourself more powerful by connecting with more acquaintances. Learn from each other. Have fun. Then share your experiences with all your friends in Zaadz so we can continue to inspire others, online and offline. Below are some suggestions on how to share your Zaangha experiences:

1) Bring a camera. Take lots of pictures. Post them on your Zaadz photo albums. Add some descriptions. Don't forget to tag your photos with ”zaangha.” Then do these:

Show Off Your Zaangha Photos (aka zPhotos)!

Show Off Your Zaadz Shirts (aka zShirts)!

2) BLOG your first-hand accounts! Share what you've learned, and the new cool people you've connected with. Make sure to tag your blog entries too with ”zaangha.”

3) Post your discussions on your Zaangha pods. Then feel free to link to them from zPod:ZLounge:BULLETIN BOARD or zPod:ZLounge:Got Zaanghas? so more people can be inspired by them.

4) If you like spicing up your blogs or pod discussions you can also post audios, and videos of your gathering. For instructions on how to post those audios and videos (e.g. embedded objects), check this out: TIP: How to Post Embedded Objects (e.g. Odeo, YouTube) on Blogs

That's all for now. We'll leave the rest up to your creativity. Take care and godspeed!
