Fully Engaged

This is a pod that encourages depth of engagement toward awakening with one another, through one another. Discussions will address individual and collective experiences and ideas with no boundaries on how that is expressed.  The tentative premise is that “awakening” or “enlightenment” is not an individual activity in which the results are restricted to only a select...(more)

Fugitive Pieces

Frans said May 10, 10:02 PM:

Hi,

It doesn't happen very often that I get blown away - usually it's by a book but this time it's a movie called Fugitive Pieces by Jeremy Podeswa.

I can't remember being as deeply moved as I am by the poetic beauty and subtlety of this work of art - so very different from what we've come to expect of movies…Apparently it's based on the book by Canadian poet Anne Michaels.

I felt I had to share this and I would love to discuss the movie with those of you who can see it.

Let me know when it comes out in DVD and I'll watch.
Dude! You can afford to go to the theater?!

Another suggestion is “Synedoche, NY” (out in DVD) with Philip Seymour Hoffman (who is probably one of the greatest actors of the century). The movie is deeply symbolic and many claim Jungian. However, even though the critics gave it 4 stars most stated that you need to watch it 2x to get the gist of it. Wiki highlights a few of the motifs, the chief being the blending of dream and waking states.
I love existential films and this director, Kaufman, has quite a few.

Thanks,
mikeS

Theater?  What theater?  Canmore doesn't have one…it's on DVD.  I'll try and find Synedoche as well.

Frans,

Ha! Ok, I'll check it out this weekend.
No Theater? Oh I forgot, you're in the Yukon.

No, the Yukon is about 1000 miles north of us :-)

Are all USA people bad at geography, hehe?

Oh and there's a fun geography test here

I found it surprisingly challenging so it's not just Americans! :)

You kanucks are all so dang righteous!

And to think that during the previous 8 years my wife and I actually contemplated joining you up there in the Yukon.

Well, now that America has elected its savior, there is no longer need for that.
Now, however, the situation has become even more dire and it seems the more pressing need is not to escape to another country, but to escape to another planet (or maybe an alternative universe or dimension).

Peace Angels,

Hey Nicole,

They removed the clip of the beauty queen - suppose she flashed her boobs too :-)?

Hi Frans,

They did huh? No, no flashes, but poor girl it was such humiliation. It's for the best really that it's gone.

Cheers,
