The press release

So the word LOHAS doesn't really do it for me, either, but here's the very very very very first snapshot of this growing community of expanded consciousness. Again, it's in beautiful alignment with our own mission at Zaadz.

And take it with a grain of salt. It's a press release. ;) What's far, far more important is the realizion of the organic, living communtiy we'll create.

Again, I like coming to a place where I can take for granted the values and depth of understanding and shared commitment to awareness and accountability of those around me. I want to work with and share relationships with those who share this, and I want to help others appreciate the reasons why I find this important.

That's part of my dream for Gaia.

A small part; there's definitely more. But this should be a conversation, not a monologue… so I'll be quiet for a bit. I'm sure I'm not alone on the team when I say I'd love to hear your thoughts.

As per Siona's comment, I agree that LOHAS doesn't feel exactly right. Seems to me like a *subset* of the culture…

…but I'm curious, what other names are there for the culture? Is 'culture creatives' accurate?

I love 'conscious.' Or 'aware.'

That, to me, captures the essence of what it means to value our connections to body and mind and earth and spirit, and the deep relationships between then. It describes so perfectly that care and concern I have for being environmentally conscious, in being aware of my own mind-body connection, and, too, for being socially aware.

I don't know. I bristle a bit at being categorized from the outside. I'd rather ask what my own values are and how I describe them, and see who else resonates with them. “The culture”? The question, for me, is what's OUR culture and how are we going to shape and create and grow it.

Hey Will-

I am not completely sure, but I seem to remember reading somewhere that Lime had decided to drop the Wisdom Channel a while back.  I think Steve Case said it just wasn't doing as well as they thought– something to the effect of them not expecting the kind of competition that came up in the sustainability category of things.

Sorry for the vagueness– trying to remember where I read that….

I will find out if we have the library of content from the Wisdom Channel. Thank you for reminding us of this treasure. I know the Wisdom Channel offered nourishment for many on a path of spiritual expression.

That's not a bad inspirational concept.
(Sorry, not the part about you my friend)
I remember a line from some jazz singer that said, (help me out, if you've heard this one)
“where will you be when the revolution is televised?”

What if there was non-stop broadcasting of nothing but knowledge about why humanity and the earth is, an interconnected, energetic, vibrating spiritual being, with human beings seeking conscious awareness of it's harmonious relationship.

Televise leading authorities on quantum physics, mystical spirituality, eastern philosophy etc., along with various musical guests and videos, whose genre and/or lyrics speak to the peaceful goals that are innate in the hearts of most, if not all people.

YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST FOLKS!

But seriously you guys, why isn't someone televising what we know about humanity's entangled SPIRITUAL understanding of themselves?

Yeah, it does.

Even if only to be the first to “capitalize” on posessing or presenting knowledge…
 when decisions are made to suppress knowledge from the masses, they've accepted the inevidable corruption of knowlegde's power.

In other words…
understanding who and what we truly are,  is the knowledge that's power and love.
It sets people free from the negative, convoluted ideas and opinions that oppresses the spirit in our minds and makes us strive in vain and in conflict.

However, if that knowledge, power and love is kept from humanity- for the intended purpose of monetary profit, religious dominion, and/or political control– it only corrupts the knowing elite, to an absolute end.
Though it does create an innocently contentious society, because society is oblivious to the practice of unity and laws of spiritual oneness, which the elite knows has given them life and keeps them healthy and/or alive, for now.

What's saddest of all is, knowledge will still accomplish it's intended purpose, being from the source of all intelligence and truth.
Which is to give people enough truth to free the mind and unify their spirits.
Because they've kept the truth from society, and the longer they do, it's going to cost the knowing elite more than others.
Just like any education tends to do.
So far, that debt continues to grow.

Hmm.. well, I agree with most of what you are saying…  But I think the information is presented all over the place.  Books, movies, people, sudden moments of inspirational thought, moments of appreciation– I do not think anyone or anything has the power to keep us from the knowledge of who we really are. 

I mean, heck, its even on youtube! ;)

And you're right, the truth is free for the finding.
So why hasn't it spread to mainstream media?

Why aren't mainstream companies and sponsors like auto makers, home goods suppliers, appliance manufacturers, and even clothing lines, chomping at the bit to present the new spiritual paradigm to people, via the mainstream media?

Will it have an adverse effect on their profits?
Or, has it just not been packaged in a way that appeals to the “Capitalist” in them?

that reads 'ABOUT GAIAM'.

And, Charles & Dave, I think it's only a matter of time before the mainstream media takes on the spiritual angle. I think it has already begun. Just look at Oprah. It seems to me that spiritual movies, books, and practices are more popular than ever and are becoming the mainstream. They greatly impact the marketplace. But, some companies will persist in doing business as usual until the market forces them to change. It's hard for people to change their paradigm once they get going. But, I think that's okay and I'm glad to see many mainstream companies are taking the concerns of health and sustainability into account. I think that indicates a huge shift in consciousness.

I think you are right Jessica.

I think Jessica is one of the many “being the change”.  I think it is important (if what we want is more spiritualness in our everyday lives) to notice the spiritualness that is already in the mainstream.  I mean, Zaadz has almost 100k members– and as Jess said, Oprah is a good example, as are all of our sponsors to the right! (give em a click!) ;)  And uh, jeez– have you seen gaia.com?? A good sign, no?

Now I think what is interesting is “The Secret” was meant to be just that.  A nationally televised broadcast where they would just “shove the truth in the face of the public”.  And that is what they did in Australia- they wanted to do that here, but noone would carry it. ;)  But look what happened, even at the release of a DVD.  You can't force feed people these concepts– it has to come from a natural wanting to understand life more deeply, and they have to recieve the information in their own way.  Its not a one size fits all sort of thing, since we come from so many different paths and have had such a wide variety of life experiences.

But of course– all paths lead home. :)  You can't get it wrong, and you never get it done…

I just want to say that I think I can warm up to the whole Gaia + Zaadz thing… I mean, they do both share the same principles..

I came to this because I tried out the free spiritual cinema movies (for one month) and noticed that it was created in part by the Gaia company.  And I thought, hmmm…. if zaadz can now bring me these cool things like spiritual cinema because of Gaia… I think I can get used to this.
