This is overrated

I still truly beleive this book is crap. Ok, no doubt the author has talent and the ook starts off well enough, but the main characters lack of apoint in life and the virtually zero plot makes this book a sad flop. I realize there is deeper meaning behind the stroy’s nonsense and getting drunk , overused phrases, and endless sommentary by the character, but I just dont feel it

A good read no matter how old you are

I was forced to read this for an english class back in Highschool. At first, i thought it was nothing but dull dribble. After reading it, I thought the same. But there was something that kept pulling at my brain that said to give it a second chance. So, I did. After reflecting on the book and re-reading it, I realized how amazing it truely was. J.D Salinger highlights how frail the human mind is when subjected to the phoniness and corruption of the world in a very gritty and straight forward sort of way. The manner in which he speaks to the reader is how you would speak to your friend while kicking back and hammering off a couple of beers. A no bullshit, this is how it is tone.

For those who have read this and say its not worth the time, read it again. Analyze it a little deeper, and truly try to see its meaning. Overall, its a very good read. It just takes a second time to see that.
