“practically written in Technicolor,” said Time Magazine of Elizabeth Goudge's Green Dolphin Street. The other contemporary reviews of the novel back in the day seemed to agree with Times' analysis. For me, I first read this used-bookstore out-of-print little gem when I was very young and have enjoyed it at various intervals since. I think aside from Tolkein's Ring Trilogy, I have read GDS more times than any other book. It is as comforting as a cup of Granma's creme brulee and fresh cuppa coffee.
