Bill Bryson has made a living out of traveling and then writing about it. If nothing else, A Walk in the Woods is proof positive that the journey is the destination. As Bryson and Katz haul their out-of-shape, middle-aged butts over hill and dale, the reader is treated to both a very funny personal memoir and a delightful chronicle of the trail, the people who created it, and the places it passes through. January 2008 - I got the book from the Eagle Valley Library District (EVLD), reading it right now (since January 20. 2008). I ws astonished to find a mistake in this book. Bryson wrote (about his visit in Centralia, PA) ::: “I'm bound to say, the smartest place in North Ameica to oneself.” …. “Who knows how crazy these peaple might be after three decades of living on top of an inferno and breathing head-lightening quantities of CO2 (carbon dioxide) or …..”
