Love

ANIMAL FARM was a required reading in my past high school years, I actually had to read it twice, but it was writing style I fell in love with. Because of that, I went in search for more books by George Orwell and obviously read this one (1984).

I actually ended up giving me nightmares! I was so hooked with this book that I recall reading it in Burger King and shivering as a I munched on french fries. I read it about a year ago and I still recommend it to anyone when the conversation can be steered towards literature.

The ideas he presented here, like the concept of “doublethink”, was incredibly interesting and understandable to the regards of present life. Even now, I still notice something happening in society and shiver again: “It’s like 1984!”

I won’t hesitate to read this again! I just need to own it first…

This is the most chillingly good book I have ever read

Orwell's depiction of a futuristic distopia is so close to our reality today, it's frightening. The characters in Oceania let their lives be controlled by television screens. Hmm, does that remind us a bit of our society today? We spend the majority of our time in front of a screen, be it our computer screen, our TV, or our cell phones, and we trust too much in the information we receive from our television screens. We rely on the news, for example, to find out about current affairs and politics, and too few people realize how biased the news really is.

unreal

…how this book hits it right on the head.  We are following Orwells perspective and have jumped off the proverbial cliff.

Past into the Present

People need to read this book and take caution. The similarities found in present day society and that of this “narrative” are astounding. Give it another decade or so and it will be too late, at least for America.
