Like poetry

I think because I've seen the Taoist concept of inaction distorted and exploited for criminal purposes before, I've shied away from Taoism. That just means it's a hard sell to me. But, I still feel very strongly that the Tao Te Ching has some of the most beautiful and moving poetry that I've ever read, and I would encourage anyone to read for spiritual or aesthetic purposes. Whatever wisdom that might speak to you is there.

A very pleasant surprise

I always wonder if we need *another* translation of Lao Tzu. Yet I read every one.

Often there’s a new angle on one point, one line or a passage - yet very often I feel another translation was not required!

Often depth becomes shallow as authors simplify of fail to fully interpret; sometimes they tint the tao with personal preconceptions or other belief systems.

Sometimes it’s all too similar to another translation.

This work by Stephen Mitchel is a very nice work :-)

YUMMY

His translation is a delight to read - poetry - so powerful and beautifully worded. This is one of those books i use for divination, that is, just open to any page for insight. This isnt just a book, it’s a TOOL. keep it nearby. i do.

Helped me kill time...

I read this a long time ago when I was working as a customer service supervisor for Office Max. I read a lot of this stuff when I was working there. It was a nice way to kill time between irate customers.

My favorite translation

I have read a few translations of the Tao Te Ching. Mitchell's is my favorite, both for readability and the beauty of the language.
